If Wilder is smart he takes some time off and takes one or two tune up fights against bums, maybe Malik Scott will help him out and takes another dive, and then...he should really go for the JOSHUA fight at thend of 2022. Joshua will very likely lose to Usyk in the rematch which will happen in March/April 2022. He was outclassed from the first round and had no business in the ring. Wilder should fight him as it would be a great last payday for him and he has decent chance of beating Joshua. Wilder is more durable than Joshua, has a much better chin and more power. Wilder proved he can land on slick boxers like Fury so i'm pretty sure he'd find the big Bodybuilders head. Personally i would pick Wilder over Joshua 24/7 at this point. Joshua has no heart anymore. Wilder on the other side is a total warrior. He's lacking skills left and right but his power is for real and his heart and fighting spirit is incredible. I like the idea of Fury vs. Usyk and Joshua vs. Wilder at the end of 2022... And if Wilder is smart he's going the route. Because Joshua is a high profile fight fight for him and super winnable so he can raise his stock after getting his head smashed in over 30 rounds against Fury. That would be a good cash out fight. He could retire afterwards and ride off into the sunset....with a super decent ending to his career. I guess Eddie Hearn would make the fight immediately if Joshua loses the rematch with Usyk. It is probably the last good fight to make for Joshua. And i guess people still would like to see Joshua vs. Wilder. I doubt Fury gonna fight Joshua with no belts. Makes no sense, Arum and Warren would never do that imo. It's the mandatory or Usyk next for Fury depending on how the Whyte/Wallin stuff is playing out.
Fair enough but he was still smart enough to fight as a Champion for years cherry picking his opponents and keeping the title under his name. So i think they'll work out something for the future and i think the Joshua fight should be their main goal. But yeah...Wilder himself isn't a smart person at all. So it should be more like "If Wilders promoter/team is smart..."
Yes it makes perfect sense, both would need a big fight and it's a fight that would still have fans on both sides interested to say the least. But then again it made perfect sense when both held titles and DAZN were willing to throw truly insane money at Wilder and it didn't happen. If Finkel and Haymon decide it's not in PBC's best interest they'll keep blocking the fight. Wilder too might simply price himself out again, believing even without the belt he deserves 50%. But if they can come to terms and both sides are willing, it's a no brainer. Huge fight, loads of money, loads of interest even if it's basically for who's number 3 in this era, this fight needs to be made.
What he should do next is to take a 6 to 8 months, come back against a Charles Martin level opponent to see where he’s at. The fight with Joshua will probably be on the table for a couple of years more.
You know what is the question ? How AJ will take another lose, maybe even worse than Wilder. Who knows.
I stated on another thread that i think Wilders stock has increased from what it was before this third Fury bout, a fighter willing to bite down on his gumshield when the going gets tough and go to war as Wilder did in this bout is a big draw, puts bums on seats and sells PPV. Wilder of this bout beats AJ of the Usyk fight
