If the fight had gone ahead and he beat povetkin and especially if he had knocked him out then no not for me. He would of been seen as one of the best in the division and would of given some credibility to his current status as a champion.
That's how I feel, and I honestly think he would've UD'd Povetkin. Povetkin is just too short and slow. Wilder could have played it just like the Stiverne fight and it would have gone fine. Would have been huge for Wilder. That was the past though. Povetkin is getting old. He's past his prime. He'll start plummeting any day now. I believe he should last a little longer, maybe a year or two, but who knows.
Yeah, 100% but I dont think we will see much of Povetkin in a world boxing context because of the PED issue. I am sure he will still get the odd half decent guy thats stupid enough to go an collect a cheque in russia but thats about it an rightfully so. I think it would of been a dangerous fight real 50/50.
Povetkin is considerably better than Stiverne though. Just because they're both shorter than Wilder doesn't mean Povetkin will be equally as ineffective at closing the distance. I wouldn't have put money on it but I'd have picked Povetkin.
I'm not sure Povetkin is better. He was a better AM for sure. But PRO? not as it stands. Beating titlist Stiverne will remain Wilders best win, adding 37 year old failed contender and recent consistent PED abuser Pov is lesser.
Oh Povetkin is incredibly, incredibly better. I rate Stiverne very, very low. Lower than most I imagine. But Povetkin still has the same fundamental flaws as Stiverne: Slow and short. When you're that slow and short, I just don't think there's any solution against a spry 6'7"er. (And I do have to emphasize "spry" to contrast with a tall heavy like Wach who moves like he's wearing cement shoes.) Wlad somewhat demonstrated this when he fought Povetkin. Now, Wlad fought pretty dirty and 2013 Wlad >> Wilder, but it's about the basic concept to me, and Wlad demolished Povetkin. It was a slaughter. Povetkin is too easy to outmaneuver when you tower over him like Wlad or Wilder.
PEDvetkin via KO of the year, then WBC declares the fight a No Contest because Povetkin ate russian stag steak full of clembuterol and Wilder stays undefeated, retains the belt and continues fighting bums until he has a perfect 50(49)-0 record and retires as the best ever.
Headvetkin is a ****en bum. Beating the big headed 38-39 year old won't enhance his resume. He's a scumbag cheat.
Wlad tossed his sorry ass around like a rag doll. Headvetkin will never in his cheating life beat an elite heavy.
1) Povetkin would KO Wilder 2) If Wilder KO'd Povetkin ... you'd wake up and the coffee mum put at the bedside table would be cold and you'd be late for work 3) If Wilder REALLY KO'd Povetkin, it would be his signature win and proof that he deserves his belt.
