A defeat to a guy who has had mental health issues, drug problems and been out of the ring for 3 years.
Of course big time, he is catching Fury at a vulnerable time. Fury actually has less to lose because he has a built in excuse of saying he wasn’t ready. Nonetheless Fury is going to sleep, I’m pretty confident of that.
Yep. The minute an American Boxer doesnt live up to his hype he is dropped by a large portion of fans. Americans want winners not losers. Im sure that frees him up to climb the rankings and trying to become mandatory for all those belts but he will be seen as high risk low reward for all these bums who he has been laughing off insted of fighting over the years and maybe they wont be so quick to give him oppertunities to rebuild. Also he may have to travel to fight and theres no home town rules of rabbit punches allowed to Wilder.
On this boxing site it would spawn conspiracy theories, claims that the fix was in, and an endless stream of fan-boy threads approaching soft porn claiming Fury is the sexiest man alive. But after the Queen knights him Joshua would scream prejudice.
Wilder has next to nothing to gain and everything to lose from this fight. If he wins it he might be able to claim the Lineal Title but it wouldn't grant him anymore legitimacy than he already has because Fury was so long out of action and is early into his comeback and has yet to prove he can still go so people will just say that Fury's shot and it means nothing, whereas if he loses then he loses his WBC Belt and people will say he got exposed and was never all that great to begin with. This is a fight which benefits Fury far more than it could ever benefit Wilder because Fury cant lose for the same reasons, and the only way Wilder's stock can go is down or, at best, stay the same because even if he wins it wont do anything for him or his legacy.
