If, for some reason or another, Wilder called it a day after his next fight, where historically would you have him rated? Above Holmes? Lewis perhaps or on a Klitchko level even!? Orrrrr.. Even on an Marciano level?
Well below all of the names you suggest. Those guys sit at the HW top table. And as of now, the only way Wilder could get close to a seat there would be serving the drinks....
Wilder hasn't beaten anybody, his best name on his record is an old Ortiz. Somewhere with Mccall maybe... He might catch Oliver though, but the atomic bull with his head screwed on could potentially walk through Wilder.... Bruno level?? Could Wilder cope with Brunos stiff jab?? could Bruno cope with Wilder right hand?? Would he have to??.. I tend to go with boxers over punchers, since it is boxing I follow. Certainly a lot lower than Mike Tyson, perhaps above the two I've mentioned, but only if the one trick pony lands that big shot. I'd fear for Wilder against Lennox or the names you mentioned.
Wilders best win would be Ortiz ,his best win was 4 years ago against Jennings where Klitschko handed a loss to him bf that fight so its a major blow to the Ortiz career so far so theres next to zero reason to give a Boogeyman title to Ortiz . Wilder will be remember for ducking and dodging and being great at lying along with the only man in sports history declining 120 million when his highest pay at that time was 2 million . lol Fans will have more then enough comical quotes to and ppl will bring them up and he would look like a mockery despite his K.O record bc he's not even a clean puncher thus WILDER suits him . Really he would be viewed as a side show bc most time it takes years AFTER a boxer retires for the public to catch on how good a fighter was ,so what was so good Wilder did ? The guy sought fights when he thought guys weren't ready and or had an advantage he knew about. For his sake he better hope he gets by Ortiz bc he was saved by the bell and as most know hes holding Furys belt.It would take a good amount of time to regain some damaging events so far since he became champion, Ortiz aint going to cut it avoiding AJ and Whyte ...etc...etc... . and we wont forget his team was going to hide him from klitschko either. Where would he rank historically ? The word OPPORTUNIST comes to mind.
Wilder, with his ridiculously padded bumbuster record, isn't even fit to carry the jockstraps of the guys who aren't fit to carry the jockstraps of guys like Holmes and Marciano.
Wilder has never been the number one guy(heavyweight champion), by either Ring, or Boxrec. So Wilder ranks with almost guys like Ken Norton right now.
He would be near Pinklon Thomas rating perhaps. Frank Bruno. I don't know. But he would not be near the Tyson's or Holmes level.
I actually think less, two years down the line it would be "Remember that Wilder guy?" and be answered by.. Who?..
