Joshua wont get to 50-0 because he wont fight 39 bums first.

Depends upon what happens in the division and who he fights. If for example he beats a fighter that beats Joshua and Fury then not having those 2 on his resume wouldn't be the worse thing, he'd likely still be seen as ducking them but he would of proven his worth by beating the man that beat the man.

Now if we are talking about him just hanging onto the WBC belt, only facing Haymon fighters and retiring with an old Ortiz still as his best win. Well then he'll be remembered as the Sven Ottke of the heavyweights, long reign, but benefited by being protected, was never the best in his division. Basically he'd be an after thought in regards to the division and easily forgotten.

He'd also likely end up broke and be forced to come out of retirement and take some losses against some young up and comers. No way he stays in the black for long feasting on the Haymon paydays he's getting, especially with his lavish lifestyle.

Most fighters on their way up fight a series of part-timers and journeymen as they learn the sport. AJ and Wilder both did this and they both needed to as they started late and each had relatively short if successful amateur careers 43 and 38 respectively.

The point is, those EARLYfights aren't really comparable to those once a fighter steps up to the top level. AJ will not fight as many times as Wilder, but he did make the step up to meaningful contests much quicker.

If he chooses to stay boxing at the elite level he could amass many more victories over top competition than Wilder simply because he's already ahead on that score and is 4 years younger.

He doesn't have to fight him. Bowe ducked Lewis.

If Wilder keeps on fighting bums for pitiful $1.5 million purses then by the time he has a 50-0 record he won't have enough money to retire on, considering he is living a lavish lifestyle and has half a dozen of children that cost him child support.

A retired Wilder would become the next ex-boxer who is broke and begs for money online.

He'll be remembered just below Riddick Bowe who also amassed a similar record but only had Holyfield as his top win.

He KO'd solid top-10 contender Bryant Jennings who in his previous fight went 12 rounds and won 3-4 against World champion Wladimir Klitschko.

Even if you try hard, you can't argue that it was a VERY good win.

He KO'd old Tony Thompson, being the one of only two (along with Wlad) who stopped TT.

This. To be honest, I was surprised that Wilder overcame huge disparity in skills, balance and ring savvy and still won that fight vs Ortiz.

I do think that where a fighter is based gets unfairly taken into account.
Consider this fighter - Chayaphon Moonsri is currently 49-0 and a winner of 9 world title fights

Was thinking about this, if his handlers wanted to, they could get him to 50-0.
    It'll suck to real fans.
Again--- time has a way of making historical fighters better than they were, I'd suspect in time Wilder would look great in 2040 or so.
If he went 50-0...and didnt' fight a young undefeated foe.

Except where fighters like A.J. lives, they would remember if Wilder fought him-- but not so much the states. Hell I was heartbroken to find out Holyfield did a major t.v. appearance like 2013...and the interviewer didn't know him-
The co-host had to explain...remember when Tyson bit a guy?
    Oh, that guy?

You’d hope that the WBC chucks a young talented mandatory at him before he reaches 50-0.

I mean, he’s what, 4 years away from it now. There’s some talent coming through that I’m sure he won’t be able to avoid.....

Having said that, if Joshua’s still king of the division, everyone will still be gunning for him.

Anyhow, Wilder needs to seriously up his opposition if he’s to be remembered the way he wants to be.
