Not sure Chef, in your opinion would the 40% be around £12 million?

Haye's not stupid, he knows the risk-reward factor, let's base this on his "Four fights then I retire" comment:

    One scenario for Haye

Fights Wlad, Earns £12 million, Loses.
Possible rematch, Earns £10 million, Loses.
Fights contender A, prob £2 million,
Doubt Wlad would give Haye another fight, Vitali's retired, unless Wlad's been stripped of a title and Haye fights for it he's got nowhere to go, another £1-2 million.

    Total - 24 million.

    Another possible scenario

Fights Contender A, wins, £6 million (based on Valuev/Ruiz)
Fights Contender B, wins, £6 million
Earns the right to a %50 split with Wlad, loses gets £15 million.
    Rematch, loses gets £12 million.

    Total - 41 million

Now these are figures made up on the spot, but the logic is sound. If Haye loses to Wlad right now it impacts on his financial clout down the line bigtime.

Get a couple more defences under his belt, raise his profile, infact Wlad - Haye would be MASSIVE a year or two down the line if these guys keep building it like they are, America, THE WORLD will be begging for the fight.

So with this in mind, with Haye putting potential MILLIONS on the line I feel he is within his right to ask for 50-50.

4 fights, wants to maximise his earnings, think about it.

C'mon Chef, if Haye (in association with Goldenboy and Sauerland!) could promote the Ruiz fight he could promote a Wlad fight. That's not really the issue though anyway.

I'm not anti-Wlad, I think he'd beat Haye but if Haye refuses at 60-40 I wouldn't blame him. True Haye's 40% is more than he can make from any other fight but 50% for Wlad is more than he can make otherwise. As odd as it sounds I think Wlad needs to fight Haye more than Haye needs to fight Wlad so 50-50 makes sense.

Why Wlad needs the fight more at the moment:

    1. Haye can make good money fighting the likes of Ruiz because of his huge popularity in the UK. Haye got 800,000 PPV buys for Valuev (haven't heard the Ruiz figures yet) and he sold out the biggest indoor arena in the UK for Ruiz. Haye probably made £8-10m combined from the Valuev and Ruiz fights.

    2. Wlad has money, what he needs is a legacy fight. Haye would like to pick up more paychecks against the likes of Ruiz before risking the big reduction in drawing power that a loss to Wlad would do. Wlad has money. He wants good names for his legacy and, at 34, time is beginning to run out for him.

    3. Wlad has failed to break America. With a fight in America, against a name American (Arreola? Toney? Holyfield?!) Haye could break America. This would earn Haye loads and give him a stronger negotiating position with Wlad because he would be bringing in US revenue (which is the really big money).

I've got a lot of respect for the Klitschkos but if Haye refuses a worse offer than 50-50 I can understand that.

In my opinion Haye would benefit from one more fight against a top guy before taking on Wlad....

    HOWEVER

Life is short. Careers are short. Nobody knows what's round the corner.......the fight is available now and I think it's best to take it now if good terms can be agreed. The Haye camp will push strongly for 50/50, but should be willing to accept a little less in my estimation. Having the fight at Wembley (which I think Wlad would agree to) offers some obvious advantages to Haye.....if that can be agreed and if Haye gets around 45% (give or take) then I'll be dissapointed if it doesn't happen, though not hugely surprised....nothing surprises me in boxing.

The above is assuming all other things being equal.....i.e: no crazy rematch clauses.

so if Haye said "we want 60%" and wlad said no then its wlad fault. so Haye can ask for what he wants and if wlad doesnt give it to him wlad is wrong

IMO Haye might price himself right out of a fight.... maybe thats what he wants:hey

if wlad really wanted to fight haye, he'd offer a 50/50 split. no rematch clause.

because the contracts that wlad was imposing on haye essentially forced haye to fight wlad, then vitali, then wlad again.

what a joke the klitschkos are.
