i thought something was up with wlad..he looked a funny colour and i noticed he had trouble with his feet in the ring (slipping and sliding) so i wouldnt be surprised if something was up with him...

but when you actually think about it..if wlad was able to beat the **** out of the number 2 heavyweight so easily if there was complications then im afraid povetkin & the rest should retire

Wlad fans are not sane people you have to understand that. Wlad has been fighting like this for years. Povetkin kept putting pressure on WLad and he had no answer for it so he held. The ref is a disgrace for allowing Wlad to continue to foul. I've seen fighters get disqualified for a lot less. I bet HBO feels dumb for showing that pathetic fight. I though they learned there lesson when Wlad fought Haye. Wlad is a money loser for networks. No one wants to watch **** like we saw Saturday.

I do think he didn't look quite Sharp - he won, no doubt, but some of his movement seemed slougish by his standards and he threw some sloppy shots. Maybe it was an effect of Povetkin's "bull-style" tactics, maybe it was because he was nervous about being in Russia. Maybe it was an off-night, but he didn't look quite right. Still pitched a shutout, though.

No way, he was much more mobile vrs. Haye and Chambers and Chagaev. That's his peak imho (2008-11). He had another good performance against Thompson in 2012. But I attribute that (at least partially) to Steward really wanting a knockout in that fight and pushing Wlad to step it up and physically overwelm Thompson.

I think Wlad's lost the edge since then. His last opponent (Pianeta) offered no challenge, and then Wlad spent a few months partying and banging Hayden. Maybe last night was a wake-up call, but there's also a chance that Wlad isn't a fighter anymore.

Credit to Wlad for getting the win and making all that money and all.

Still, the sport suffered. If Steward was around, he would remind Wlad that it's not just about having the crown, it's the way you wear it.

If Wlad wasn't on the decline, then he could have won that fight with his footspeed and jabs. That would have been a fun fight to watch.

For example, I didn't think Haye-Wlad was all that bad (except for Haye's flops of course). The fight was exciting till the end and there were minimal fouls.

If the issue is Povetkin charging in (and let's face it, Povetkin used very similar tactics in the Huck fight), then Wlad/Banks should have worked on the uppercut or the sidestep rather than perfect the push-down. If boxing wasn't corrupt as ****, the push-down wouldn't be an option at all.

Hmm, well that was slightly different because Ibragimov was also spoiling. Povetkin's tactics weren't perfect, but they were bold, and would have made for an interesting fight if Wlad couldn't get away with the headlocks and pushdowns.

then you don't know boxing it may seem like its easy to fight like he did but it is not. And also i was not speaking about povetkin fight I said he could lose reflexes in 2-3 years time and explosive fast punchers who are younger then him (Haye, Wilder) might catch him at the right time. (Povetkin is neither explosive or fast or real puncher)

Nobody thought Povetkin would beat Wlad. Viritually everyone believed Povetkin was getting knocked out and wouldn't get anywhere near Wlad. Povetkin looked alot better in this fight than he has in any fight since at least Boswell.

Wlad won the fight. You can't take that away from him. He earned 17 million. But the tactics he used will hurt his legacy. He needed Steward in thie corner screaming at him to knock the guy out.
