Well, Wlad is my favorite heavyweight and I do think he's the man now. Beating Ibragimov is a step in the right direction though. It's good he and Ibragimov are fighting to FINALLY unify the belts. If Wlad gets past Ibragimov, he should fight Chagaev and beat up Peter again (considering he beats Maskaev, but I wouldn't mind Wlad thrashing both). That would be good considering it's what he has to work with. THEN, he should give rising stars like Povetkin a chance, that would look good on his resume.

I already believe Klitschko is head and shoulders above any other heavyweight, and if he beats Ibragimov quickly, it will add positively to my ranking of him and I would have no problems calling him "the man."

I don't think Povetkin is fully ready, but he is a top 10 heavyweight right now and would put up a better fight than guys like Rahman or Ruiz. As a fan of Samuel, I would pick Wladimir to knock him out. I just don't see anybody being too competitive with a prepared/focused Klitschko.

I already think that Wlad is the best heavyweight in the world, but he won't be the 'man' until he unifies.

Right now I think the fight that would do the most to help Wlad's legacy would be one against Chagaev. I think his wins over Valuev, Ruiz and Virchis solidify his place as the world's number two heavy. He has shown skill, a chin, power, stamina and smarts. A win over Skelton in his first fight back from illness will be another solid name on his belt, better than Jameel McCline.

Punisher stop all this Peter talk. Peter was hype, and I said that before the Wlad fight. His power and chin are overrated. Truth is the too green Povetkin has already decisively beat and stopped a better fighter at heavy in Byrd than anyone Peter has at heavy. If Virchis beats Gomez and Peter beats Maskaev I fully expect Virchis to stop Sammy Boy.

A few years back many were suggesting that Klit hand em up. Now he's an ATG? He's been kd 10 times! The #1 right now, for sure. But ATG?

He is the best HW right now, but for future status as a good to great HW,
IMO he needs to beat all the other belt holders then the top remaining contender.

Wladimir is the best heavyweight in the division, and by a good margin. Sultan is a solid heavy but nothing great and Wlad should stop him in the mid rounds or so. Really noone out there who can beat Wlad at the moment, though there are a few who would be considered good wins if he gets them. Chagaev and the winner of Peter-Maskaev-Gomez or however that works out. Those are both credible challenges. Povetkin, if he beats Chambers, still isn't ready. He'd be better served pushing his mandatory status back til 09 and trying to pick up a few more wins over some lower top 10-15 guys. He'd be better off for it as would his crediblity to Wlad. So Wlad is the best out there but there are some nice challenges on the horizon.

For me he has to beat Chag to be THE champ.

The WBC belt has been so disgraced that I personally no longer recognize it or its fighters. Beating Sultan and Chag will make him the champ in my book, even if he does not try to retain and defend all of the belts. Sultan and Chag have won these titles fair and square, and I don't give a rat's ass if the XYZ organizations strip them because they didn't defend against whatever one-eyed hell's angel paid them to be number one contender.

Wlad KO Sultan + Wlad UD Chag= Wlad is champion

If he bombs Sultan out early and unifies a belt, defeates the best prospect in Povetkin, and holds a win over the #2 guy in Peter, there will be no quesitons.
