You lose bone density, muscle mass(though you can slow this process through training) less hormones.

Losing Speed and Reflexes are probably the worst part of the process though, nothing can be done about it.

Yes it's sad really, Lewis, Tyson, Ali etc were past prime in their late 20s and early 30s, but Wlad is at his best at 41, just because he can still out class AJ for the majority of the fight.

When people say a younger Wlad wins, I would assume they are talking about the Wlad that fought Haye most likely. A Wlad with the same power, boxing intelligence and nous but with a little more speed and better reactions. I think that Wlad would have beaten AJ in all honest.

"Well, a more experienced AJ would handle Wlad!" Well no, not until we see evidence of what Joshua can do with more experience. Until then, it's mere conjecture.

 

I'm gonna bookmark this thread and come back in 14 years when AJ fights aged 41. But more than likely he will have been retired for 6 or 7 years and nursing 3 or 4 defeats on his resume. Age catches up with us all...

 

anyone that says 41 year old Wlad was at his best has an agenda imo, to bolster AJ. he would have finished Joshua with that left hook 5 of 6 years ago. that punch was missing a lot more than it would have in the past. if a 41 year old Wlad nearly beat AJ is it that difficult to believe a 35 year old one could win? its not like that fight was a white wash, AJ struggled in there, he was wide open and nearly got taken out but a 41 year old. think people forget how old that really is in heavyweight boxing terms.

anyway I'm talking the green AJ of today, maybe he will improve to a point we could say Wlad never had a chance but he not there now thats for sure. people want it all now, he can beat Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield etc. Nope, AJ said it himself and good on him, still learning

 

Even when Wlad was younger he still couln't have beaten AJ in a 100m sprint.

The fight clearly demonstrated that Wlad would not have had to be much better to overcome this version Joshua. A little faster and better timed straight right, a little faster left hook, a little better stamina could have done it. I am 100% positive that the 2011-2012 version of Wlad would have stopped AJ.

However, this is an unfair speculation, because I am equally sure that AJ is far from his peak form, he has several more years to develop. He was thrown into VERY deep water and we cannot really tell how he would look like in 2-3 years from now. Peak Wlad v 27 year old AJ? Wlad by KO/TKO. Peak Wlad v peak AJ? We cannot tell as of now, but my heart tells me AJ is going to be better than Wlad ever was. He simply appears to have a greater variety of punches in his game, with at least similar speed and power.

The only time he got close was when AJ was gassed. That raises possible questions about AJ's longevity at champion but it doesn't strengthen your argument.

Anthony Joshua was only hurt by Wlad because of his inexperience, he was overpowering Wlad before he was
hurt by that left hook in the 5th round and he overpowered him after he recovered in the 7th and 8th round.

Wlad was never that offensive, he gave everything he had and still wasn't able to beat AJ wether on points,
where he was behind on two scorecards and rightfully so or by KO, maybe it would have made a difference if he would have been 35 years old in this fight but i doubt it, every version of Wlad would probably lose to that
pre-prime version of AJ.
