Prime Wlad would have finished him. Joshua got lucky but it cost him his aura. You tag this guy and he's well beatable.

The lef hooks vs pulev was the same exact vs Aj, missing a huge left hook looks vastly different than landing it on a statue. Wlad landed a handful of his great left hooks, he only couldn't land the leaping left hook which he shouldn't be landing on any "top 10 hw) Wlad was in far better physical condition vs Aj compared to pulev as pulev wasn't ever a real threat, fury wasn't supposed to be a real threat either.

Like vitali and Brooks stated, they'd never seen Wlad in the condition he was in for that fight, and had never seen him train like he trained. You could see clear as a perfect day that Wlad was whipping shots in there like he's never whipped them before. Aj prepared for the left hook the entire camp and still got caught with it way too many times.

The reason the fight looked a lot closer than it really was, was due to the severity of how hurt AJ was for 2 almost entire rounds. If not for the kd in round 5 a 10/8 Wlad round wasn't out of the realm. If not for Wlad catching Aj with a nasty short left hook on a rushing Aj I believe it would had been over before the end of round 6 and Wlad would had been written off by the same people as entirely shot.

Wlad landing that shot changed everything entirely, I never expected Aj to rush in like that again. I believe he would had finally learned that lesson. But we don't have anyone around that have the ability of a Wlad, we have dw but can dw land the necessary shot before Aj lands his ? Parker depending on his true level of power could land shots. Ortiz is older than Wlad and I haven't seen a great performance from him yet.

What else do we have, haye coming back from a completely torn tendon where he literally couldn't stand. Not from being concussed like Serge either, that was all tendon snappage. Aj might be on top for a very long time

Wlad is still a beast at 41, which is remarkable, but he is nowhere near as sharp as he was 10 freaking years ago. His head might be a little better, but that's it. Look at Holyfield at 41, he was in shape all of his life and still pretty good, but noone would claim that's prime holyfield. And it's not just a little difference...

Perfect explaining, the guys who are saying that "prime" Wlad would have finished AJ in the same way he
    finished Pulev are deluded.

Pulev is a joke compared to AJ.

    He wasn't prime versus Pulev...
He neglected his jab versus Pulev and his left hook was slow compared to a few years ago. Pulev just had no head movement at all.

5-6 years ago WK couldn't hit David Haye with a left hook , never mind finish him off with one. Who are all these past guys Wlad was blowing away with left hooks?

Number of fights Wlad fought= 70
Number of left hook stoppages? Id bet less than five
Number of Champs he ended with a left hook= ZERO.

I think it was more a case of him looking good against smaller, overmatched opponents.

Nobody Wlad ever beat had the combination of size , power , strength , skills , punch variety on top of the fire and hunger to win by destruction.

Wlad came in at 240 for good reason- he didn't wasn't to be up close against a savage like Joshua. He knew his best bet was to keep his distance. It was a strategy that didn't work.

'Prime' heavier Wlad who spent the majority of rounds up close engaged in clinches would succumb to the same fate.
Clinch box is only successful to a certain level. Right hook , left hook , uppercut combinations to head and body will over come a bear hug all day long.

There is exactly nothing you can do to not lose speed, reflexes, stamina, explosiveness after age 35. You can't just decide to be like "Well I'm just going to train and eat right and then be different than every man who ever lived because I'm me and they're not me". Nah, it doesn't work like that. A fighter/athlete can only delay, minimize physical decline. Stopping it isn't possible.

The one thing that stays with you until really age 45 or so if you train is pure brute strength. But it's just one thing among many physical things that matter in boxing.

Holyfield was in wars as the smaller man all throughout the 90's. By 41 he was battle worn down to nothing.

Wlad was rarely in wars and was well persevered with very little miles on the clock.

And Hopkins hasn't had a drink of alcohol or eaten a donut in 30 years. Hell the man won't even eat red meat for Christ sakes. And even Hopkins was clearly over the hill by age 39 already. Let alone 41 or 48.

Like I said there is no lifestyle you can adopt to prevent physical decline after age 35. There is nothing you can do, it's humanly impossible to avoid it.

No way on Earth would 2007-2013 Wlad have lost to
Joshua, I don't see it happening at all.

In my opinion, I think even young pre-Manny Steward
would've dispatched Joshua. Joshua isn't a workhorse like
Puritty, and he's not quick like how Sanders was where
he would've blitzkrieged Wladimir. That leaping hook that
old Wlad kept missing would've been far more accurate and
    quicker and less telegraphed.

I've said Wlad can't pull the trigger anymore quite a few
times, this fight proved that. Damn near the entire
fight, he couldn't pull the trigger. He moved well, evaded
decently, but he is nowhere near the same fighter. He's not.

But Hopkins during the 90's was a totally different boxer to Hopkins during the 00's. His endurance and work rate was insane.

You can't say that about Wlad who always had that old man , low out-put, clinch heavy style.
