Trust me, I would stake my entire reputation, for whatever thats worth, on the value of these works as historic work. I really do believe that anyone interested in the history of boxing from about 1913 through the early 70s will find great value in this work. Its a shame that frauds like Bert Sugar got so much noteriety while true boxing historians like John labored in the shadows. I really cant recommend this set enough.

I can't think of a boxing figure who deserves a comprehensive biography more than Jack Hurley, an extremely important individual and a fabulous, captivating character in the sport of boxing during his day. Yet it appears that he is largely forgotten at the present time. I am happy to learn that John Ochs has written a comprehensive three-volume series about boxing from about 1920 to the early 1970s with Hurley as the central figure. It is my hope that the series restores Hurley to his rightful place in boxing history.

It has been said that Jack Hurley never managed a great fighter, an assertion that is not true. Hurley managed Billy Petrolle, a truly great fighter.
