If you are a champion, you should not get to pick your opponents. Money should not have part at all!

Has this forum really become so apologetic that an excuse to refuse championship fight, because it will not make any money is valid? I get normal fight, but the belt fights should be given to the top contenders.
    • We have fake champion Fury, refusing to fight Usky because he is afraid of him or money
    • We have fake champion Fury that everyone wants to fight, but only ones with money can
    • We have a situation where heavyweight champion of the world fight B-tier guys like Chisora and Whyte
    • We have a situation where Fury refuses to unify belts, refuses to fight any of the top 10 contenders and still isnt stripped, and is gloryfied by this forum.
    • We have a situation where man with the belt isnt the best
    • We have a situation where being Champion means nothing
    • How can you defend this?

I agree. If boxing wants to thrive it needs to have a more rigid structure.

As the Champion you should only have a "choice" of say, the top 3 ranked fighters or unification. You should have to defend the belt twice per year minimum. Failure to do so gets you stripped.

Fury has made an absolute mockery of the sport by defending belts againsh his mates to "give them a nice pay day" while swerving anybody who actually deserves it.

Usyk has a right to attack WBC, Fury has no right to refuse 3 times champion

It's called prize fighting for a REASON people. Money is - and always has been - a prime consideration in making fights!

It’s PROFESSIONAL for a reason. Their livelihood. A short. Very short livelihood. So money has everything to do with it. I agree with champions picking opponents to a certain degree, but that comes down them organisations. I can’t remember which organisation but one of them actually had a deceased fighter ranked in the top ten.

No, no, no. People say this until it is a guy they like fighting someone they don't like. I remember everyone happy that Lomachenko was not going to fight his mandatory, Devin Haney, until he loss to Teofimo. Not to mention the 10 years of May and Pac fighting everything but their ranked mandatory matches. There ìs a precedent to this sport being the hot garbage it has become and why the UFC in particular is winning.

As long as the ABC organizations have a financial incentive to ignore their own rules to allow the more lucrative fights to happen then nothing will change.

I don't think that's true for the vast majority of real boxing fans. If you mean the casuals - they shouldn't matter. Most people will always be stupid.

And leave it up to what? The corrupt belt organization?

The best fighting the best it rarely happens. There also isnt a single governing body. so until there is , it will always be about the money.

Boxing is a business as well as every sanctioning body also having there own ranking system with a mandatory spot at the top who the Champion of that sanctioning body must fight in a specified time frame . Fury has no mandatory fights due as he fought Whyte which was the mandatory fight then fought Chisora in a voluntary fight . How long has Usyk been Unified Champion and how many mandatory fights has he had ?
