    ...should you use:

    A. whatever strategy maximises your chances of winning, even if in doing so, you would fight in a way that also increases your chances of being massively embarrassed in 90% of cases, or

    B. play it safe, and showcase you skills to the best of your ability, fighting the style that you are most confortable with, even if in so doing, you would decrease your already slim chances of winning even further, but would thereby save yourself from any chance of massive embarassement?

i.e. should you risk it all on an unsafe card, and risk miserable failure or not risk and showcase your strengths...given that you have very little chance of winning anyway?:think

Go for broke. In that situation no one expects much of you. And one punch could shock the world and change your life. You might only get one shot, give your all.

But if you go for broke, you massively increase your chances of becoming truly embarrassed, and you look like **** going for broke too! Not better just to showcase skills and lose a 12-2, instead of being KOed in the fourth after missing wildly?

You only live once , and you only might get one chance..............you've got to go for it even if it risks you getting taking out in the first without landing a punch and looking like a idiot .

Keaton "attacked with a farcical disregard for his own welfare and was humiliatingly despatched in 44 seconds." (Boxing Monthly, October 1998, p. 46.) Keaton was then quoted as saying: "I couldn't get it into my head that me, a lowly journeyman, who worked every day with normal people...was fighting for the British title....I took a lot of stick for getting beat in record time, but at least I tried to fight."

That's a quote on boxrec from Buster Keeton's fight for the British title against Terry Dunstan .

He's since gone on to become the British Cruiserweight champion and gave Mark Hobson a good scrap for a few rounds(dropping him once) before being hopelessly outclassed . He's fighting Hobson again soon in a defence of his British title which he will most likely lose , but I have no doubt he'll go right at Hobson like last time and he's right to , because if he manages to pull it off he'll probably get a European title shot or who knows might even get a fight with Maccarinelli .

No, if you lose 12-2 your out of the title picture anyway. Any massive underdog nows he's only got one chance. Better to give your all and be KO'd than wind up being a bitter broken down retired fighter wondering what if I'd gone for it.

You have to go with your stringhts. If your more of a boxer you got to box if your more of a brawalr you got to brawl. You have to be mentily tough as well.

If you go with your strengths, you lose by a wide decision, don't get embarrassed, but have no chance in hell of winning...:think

depends but if your undefeated and have good skill then plan B.
think about it you could win accidently and the rule of thumb in a career is to use what got you there in the first place adjusting but always using your skills you learned since you started.
    anyways fighters like;
bernard hopkins he used his talents to show his skills and abilty agaisnt roy jones not going for broke and showing what type of fighter he was.

kieth mulings is a typical example of fighting exactly how you know how. he lost his first title shot by sd and it increases your chances of getting another shot. and he did he fought terry norris and flattend him out.

herol graham...maybe the odd one out becuase he never won a title but still when he lost he lost when he was winning and used his slickness and souhtpaw abilty to do amazingly well even in his later age. his chances were increased becuase he did so well the first time.

box the way you learnt dont try and knock him out becuase if you do your gonna give him chances to counter your going to look exposed your going to be questioned.

fight the best of your abilities i say.

:huh going for broke is to try and knock somone out you cant not look like a prat by not flailing and throwing wildly thats what it means.

and rocky in the film said just before the fight that he knew he wasnt going to win but none have ever gone the distance with him if he could go the distance he could show himself to the world. that means he chose B and fough to the best of his abilties

But you lose looking good; if you don't play it safe, you look like an idiot all night, only in order to increase your small chances of winning by, say, 50%.

For me any fighter worth his salt comes to win. (guys like reggie strickland, peter buckley etc are excluded). If fighting your normal style will result in a loss then you look for another way to win. If your fighting for the world title you do everything in your power to make sure you have your hand raised at the end.
