If you could change one rule about boxing what would it be?

Another one I would like the "mandatory" system to be abolished. Alphabet bodies need to fo with the notion they can force the champ to fight an arbitrary top 10er from their proprietary rankings. The idea for mandatorys existing is for emergencys where someone the champion refuses to fight is widely considered the best fighter in the division. But the alphabet people have determined they have the right to choose an opponent for their champions every year. Not because it makes sense but because they can.

And its an utter disaster. Most peoples complaints with the multi belt system all lead back to the existence of mandatorys. If you take them away lineages would only be broken because the champion is leaving the weight class or retirement. And thats the way it should be.

I changed my mind after I was told to field test my idea myself first. Please never mention it again.

    Changes to scoring (three together).

    1) Allow even 10-10 for rounds that are close enough they can't/shouldn't be separated.
    2) Ditch automatic 10-8 for knockdown rounds.
    3) Deduct two points for a fighter knocked down independently of how the round is otherwise scored.

This means a knockdown round could be scored 10-8, 9-8 or 10-7.

    - 10-8 for an otherwise even round with a flash knockout but should've been 10-10 without it.
    - 10-7 for rounds where one fighter completely dominated AND gets a knockdown.
    - 9-8 for a fight where one guy clearly dominates the round but gets knocked down by something lucky.

What all this does is encourage aggression without necessarily being a total revolution... It rewards guys more for pushing the action and punishes them less if they get caught, but not knocked out - whilst at the same time making it harder for super negative fighters to win fights based on doing marginally more in boring rounds that aren't clear enough that they should really count.

    This.

Also everyone wears the same size normal boxing trunks. None of those oversized rubbish and skirts.

Your either wear black trunks or bordeaux red.

Do away with Ring walk music.

Start with getting rid of Regular/Silver/Diamond champions. If we’ve gotta have multiple champs in the same division it doesn’t mean we have to have multiple champions in the same organisation. Also sensible timescale for mandatory defences. After years waiting for a unified champion you end up with a split championship not long after the title was unified due to a champion being stripped of a belt.
