    wow, that would be heaven!
    Bob Fitzimmons-How did a 160 freak destroy heavyweights ?
John L Sullivan- Why was he held in such awe, by his peers ?
Stanley Ketchel-besides the last Papke fight, when Ketchel had damaged hands and the Jack Johnson travesty, we have no visual ideas why those
writers who had seen the Michigan Assassin, could "see no one else", ever after !. WHY ?
HARRY GREB- Everyone of note who fought him, called Greb, "THE GREATEST". WHY ! ? His style of fighting was never seen before, and never
seen after !!! What did this amazing 160 pound fighter look like against Hall of Famers, 15-40 pounds heavier than him. ? Fighting almost weekly,
and with one eye to boot ! Almost surreal his record!
Benny Leonard--Aside from the Lew Tendler film, wqe have never SEEN the
man who was Ray Robinson, before there was Ray Robinson..King of the
lightweights for SEVEN years. He beat such great fighters as Kilbane, Welch, Dundee, Charlie White, Britton,Lew Tendler,Richie Mitchell,
Rocky Kansas ,Ever Hammer,Joe Welling, Soldier Bartfield etc.
I would love to see Leonard in his glory years...
If I could receive these FIVE sets of DVD's ,I'll give up women !!!

Just a few minutes, from documentaries.....But, my grandfather watched it live at the time, on national television, HUGE event !
I think there is complete footage of Jofre vs Legra fight, it's just very rare....

I have the complete career of Mike Tyson (apart from the Larry Simms fight). I never get tired of watching it!

    So young & so talented!

I never get tired either but seeing as to how widely available it is; the point of the thread is to pick out fighters who don't have their films so readily available.
If you want Tyson's DVD set you can buy it on Amazon but the same cannot be said about Harry Greb.

Jimmy Young, of course!! I realize that he was a work in progress back when he lost to Randy Neumann, but I would like to have a career set on Young just to see the gradual transformation into the wizard that he became....especially to see how he sucked it up vs Shavers the second time. I wish the rubber match was made with Shavers..Young would have shut him out.

dpw, I agree the Fred Henneberry who decisioned Ken Overlin was a helluva fighter. He would be tough for any middleweight today. For sure...
Funny thing just happened to me. I was perusing the record of Fred Henneberry a few minures ago. And a guy Fred stopped in Australia in the 1930s was Tommy Jones of America. Tommy Jones was a stablemate of JH Lewis, and as I posted before, I ,as a young boy, lived next door to a trainer of John Henry Lewis. Every night I would go next door and spar with
the stablemates of the great JH Lewis. Tommy Jones was the welterweight who I liked the most. We would spar and he was very patient with me.
I recall he would be boxing in Australia,so I missed him being away.
Small world it is. Tommy Jones ,I was told couldn't get much fights in
America, so he fought in the land down under...No shame for old Tommy to lose to a prime Fred Henneberry. No sir !

Burt, Your experiences and stories are a pleasure to read. Cheers.
Addendum: I'm certain Henneberry would have went tooth and nail with anybody...that's for sure.

Yes i've only ever heard the story once, what caught my imagination about it was apparently it attracted quite a large crowd which also included the local police, they only stepped in when Jimmy won in the eighth to make sure nothing got out of hand, those circumstances would never be seen in this day and age. Thats the way i heard it, never seen anything documented though, i've heard Coleman was a good tough boxer but a bit of an unsavoury character and he'd been pestering Jimmy at his hotel for awhile.

You're a lucky man to have that fight and those news reels, i've only seen little bits and pieces here and there, i've been wanting to go down to the state library to see if they had anything there. I've got a feeling that an abundance of footage from Sydney Stadium exists somewhere, just dont know if it's owned by the government and avaliable to public viewing, or if it's all part of a private collection.

Did you ever see any of these guys in action Mr Sinn or have the pleasure of meeting them?

I would love to see more of Barnes, Frank Flannery also.
