If you could only see one of these fantasy fights, which one are you picking?

Sullivan vs. Jeffries would be the only choice.

It would give you first hand information about Sullivan’s style, and would fill in a lot of gaps on Jeffries style.

It would explain a lot more beyond that.

The closer you get to the present here, the less you will contribute to the sport of boxing.

Perhaps you're right, but you can't deny the attraction and tension there would be in a fight between arguably the two heaviest hitters of all time.
It could very well be an excellent war in the league of Lyle-Shavers & Foreman-Lyle.

I voted Louis v Liston, BUT Marciano v Frazier would have been deadly.

I lean towards this view. Seeing Sullivan's right against Jeff's hook would also be a revelation. Because John L. wanted too much money from Edison to be filmed in action, Corbett got the opportunity to be preserved for posterity, thinking it might be useful to see himself in action [in an age before any prospective opponents were smart enough to scrutinize the same footage for potential weaknesses].

Johnson Dempsey or any bout that includes old timers where film of them is poor or non existent. We al know how Ali, Tyson, Lewis, Bowe, Liston, frazier, marciano etc fought and perfectly so.

    Winners of these bouts?

Jeff over Sullivan KO 10 in a brutal fight.
Dempsey KO 15 over Johnson..Johnson all the way until jack gets to him.
Louis KO 9 Liston..Louis down early but comes back to TKO Sonny.
Marciano KO 12 Frazier..Joe not having a right hand hurts him here as Rockys low crouch allows him to avoid the Frazier hook while landing his own right.
Ali KO 11 tyson...Its obvious to everyone the fights over after 4 rounds. Alis too quick and tyson starts following Ali around rather than fighting.
Lewis TKO Bowe 12 rounds...great fight but with Lewis winning until a cut ends it.

:deal Sullivan-Jeffries for this reason - this would just be phenomenal to see - I have a feeling it would be a battle of the titans - the irresistible force versus the immovable object haha

Couldn't say it better. Every think of taking up writing ? :good

I always thought that Sullivan had a plethora of skills. True one punch ko power, speed in combination punching, tremendous physical strength and stamina, a great chin and fighting heart. Imagine if he was actually trained as a boxer. In reality he was somewhere between a bare knuckle fighter and a terrific toughman contestant. If the 1882 Sullivan had a few years w a real trainer , he'd have been an all time top cruiser in my book. I also don't see Jeffries taking a ton of early round bombs from Sullivan like he did a Fitz and laughing them off ... Choynski wrote that Sullivan was a much heavier hitter than he was and that says a lot ...

Would like to hear a bt more about Louis - Liston as I'm not 100 percent sold.
