it was el terrible who made me a hardcore fan before the first morales/pac fight i was just a casual one but after staying up till 5am and watching that last round were morales who was clearly ahead on the cards came out and turned southpaw for some bizare reason it was like he was saying to pac you need a ko so heres your chance.

The man was a born warrior, fighter, entertainer & your right, anyone that doesnt like Morales just doesnt appreciate greatness.

He will be badly missed (imagine Erik pulling out of that $40 mil mega fight ? ... wouldnt happen)

 

Ya know I hated Morales for a long time. I was a big Barrera supporter and a massive Pac fan so it meant that Morales was "the enemy" in my mind. That said, I still remember watching Morales get knocked down against Manny in their third fight and watching Morales shake his head no. It then dawned on me that even though I hated El Terrible, He was tied to so many of my favorite boxing memories. From his first major war with Daniel Zaragosa to his battles with Barrera to his underrated slugfest with Carlos Hernandez and then finally his amazing wars with Pacquaio. The guy was the epitome of a macho boxer who just liked fighting. He was like the ultimate villain in an action movie. In a way watching Morales rendered to quitting on the canvas was the equivalent of the end of an era for boxing.

Now I've grown to appreciate Morales for his bravado, toughness and outstanding will.

Hell yeah that was fukin' sick when he turned southpaw. Erik Morales will always be my favorite fighter of all time. I've seen him in Tijuana when I use to go there a lot.
