THE PROBLEM WITH YOUR PREMISE, IS, ALMOST NO ONE SAID HE HAS A GLASS CHIN.

However, everyone is noting, quite correctly, that he has absolutely no defense.

There is a difference.

A few fights ago, one could say, "Man, that Mitchell can really bang. If he can just improve his defense a little (well, a lot) then he could be a serious contender."

Alas, 2-3 years down the pike, he hasn't changed at all, which means he probably never will.

Watch how you word your titles. I put all of those "glass jaw" idiots on my ignore list. Saw the title and thought, "One more for the list."

Glass chins exist in boxing. Personally, I would only suggest at this point that Mitchell's chin is "suspect," because he didn't actually hit the canvas - but it sure does look a little shaky.

 

He was in there with Chazz Witherspoon. If that was any other top 10 Heavyweight he would have gotten KOed.

Witherspoon is awful. If you can't see this then you might want to take up another sport.

 

People are unaware of just how hard these guys throws. Not just pro level fighters, but guys that are known to throw a bit harder than the average HW.

I'm actually amazed when I watch fights and these guys can take huge shots like that.

200+ Pound heavyweights just exploding bombs on each other. Especially the more skilled guys.


I wish I could find a video of that one commercial years back with a Fan sitting on the coach while Holyfield is fighting and says something like...I could take him...and then he appears in the fight and Holyfield knocks his head off.

But overall, when dissecting a fighter and judging them....I think it is a given that we the fans suck and can't do what they are doing or we would be doing it...and we are only judging them based on the other PROs in their field.

 

Fans pay the salaries of these people, and therefore have every right to make critical comments. Better to be critical and discerning than to be an uncritical, hero-worshiping fanboy.

and its funny that most of the so called iron chinned guys are basically defensive wizards who never get hit

if any man is hit clean on the chin temple behind the ear or on the jaw they will be hurt stunned go down etc

guys in the iron chin category are the guys who are hit the least

 

Uh, ever hear of guys like Oliver McCall, George Chuvalo, Jake LaMotta, Marvin Hagler?? There are PLENTY of guys who take solid punches in this sport. The fact is, the guys that get hit and can TAKE a punch, have a good chin. Those that don't, have shaky chins of one degree or another.

Accept it, denier. Glass chins EXIST in boxing!!!!!!!!!!

 

Speaking in "what ifs" makes someone sound like some frump in menapause. Mitchell's fights are always exciting. So stop over-analyzing and just enjoy the action. How far will he go? Who knows at this point.

What if Jack Dempsey's corspe came back to life and hit Lennox Lewis who in turn came to life in Witherspoon's body when Mitchell was shaken with loaded gloves?
