lol good 1..i like that...floyd whooped on hatton..hed be 100 and 0 in 100 fights against ricky...FLOYD IS A WAY BETTER FIGHTER THAN RICKY (AND COTTO) COULD EVER BE
AWWWW. I'm so sorry Hatton got roughed up a bit. But GET OVER IT. If Cortez had taken points from Floyd, the outcome of the fight would be the same. So why does it matter so much? Boxing has always had problems like this. It sucks, but if it didn't really effect the outcome of the fight you shouldn't ***** and moan about it afterwards this much. Joe Cortez has been consistently one of the best refs in the sport for MANY years. Would you rather have Cortez being very strict (with BOTH fighters, which he was), and only dock points from one fighter (when he should have docked points from both, not that it matters because the fight ended in a knock out), or have a ref let it be a free for all, and let Hatton cheat as much as he wanted, and never warn Floyd for elbows?
The fight wasn't clean. Mayweather committed most of the fouls and was never penalised.....Hatton was also warned for most of the clinches, despite it being Mayweather initiating them. The ref was a homer and shouldn't have been in charge....
Cortez wasn't strict with Floyd. How did he enforce Floyd using his elbows? He didn't. He just kept saying don't do it. Didn't do anything when Floyd kept doing it. I'd rather have a ref that stopped BOTH guys from using illegal tactics. Not just one of them. And like I said. I didn't care one way or the other which guy won. It's a tossup between Cortez in this fight, and Eddie Cotton in the Lewis Tyson fight, as to which ref was most blatantly 'helpful' towards the US fighter. Difference is, Lewis was much better than Tyson. Still was hampered though, you could see the way he stuck his arms straight out in every clinch. Hatton however, was both not good enough, and hamstrung.
