I wanted to venture from the normal posts that I see on this site, so I came up with what I thought would be an interesting topic.

Say there was some scenario that put the entire Earth at the stake of a prize fight, and everyone had to choose a fighter to decide our fate, who would it be ?

Here are some ground rules and points to keep in mind

    1. All fighters are in their prime
    2. Fighters are not limited to the ones in the poll
    3. Fighters can be taken from any era
    4. Weight class is not important (Skill and ability within ones weight class is)

    5. We can make up more rules as you pose questions on the topic

Roy Jones Jr at 168. Best H2H fighter ever at 168.

    Couldn't agree more. :good

    My others options would be:

    - Sugar Ray Robinson at Welter
    - Ali the night he fought Cleveland Williams
    - June 1988 Tyson

You had better hope that Steve Collins is not fighting Roy Jones Jr or Barry McGuigan is fighting Salvador Sanchez.

Or we are all ****ed :good

    5. If a fighter fought at different weight classes throughout his career, then refer to the fighter with the specific weight class he fought at. ie say you chose Floyd Mayweather, then specify 130-135 Floyd if you think that is the fighter that could save the Earth

During their primes, Tyson probably had the greatest perceived invincibility in the history of the sport. He didn't show any sign of weakness. I clearly remember how it was like back inthe late 80s and early 90s, fighters are scared shitless way before they enter the ring. There is a reason why the Douglas defeat is the biggest upset in boxing history.

The only first time that I knew he became underdog in the betting odds was when he fought Lewis and even at that, he was only a 7-5 underdog.
