If you had to choose. Would you rather watch Prime Tyson/Floyd or Manny?

considering nearly all of manny's "best wins" were fighters previously defeated by Floyd...??

. Prime Tyson was undeniably a monster and athletic as any fighter. But he was not a technician on the level of Floyd. His defense was good but not among the greatest defenses to ever lace up gloves, Floyd Mayweather

 

Ali was more skilled and more exciting than Tyson. Knocking bums out isnt exciting, it would have been exciting had he knocked out Douglas, Holyfield and Leonard. He lost all his big fights, whats exciting about that? a 6 round fighter is the most exciting fighter ever?

Dude, knocking out bums and an old larry holmes isnt exciting. for a 2-3 year span Tyson was knocking out bums in 1, 2 or 3 rounds....when he got in ring with a boxer he got his ears boxed off.

Amazing people act like Tyson destroyed some of the greatest HW ever the way some of you are sounding.

For a heavyweight you bet your gonads prime Tyson had great defense. Where do you think Tyson learned it from? Rewind and watch Tyson pre-1990. Hell there aren't many fighters in smaller divisions that had Tyson's defense. It's called bob and weave and Tyson was a master at it.

And I agree, his bob and weave defense was awesome. Just wish he coulda used it vs Quality HW's

 

His defense, early in his career, was great. Very old school, and done extremely well. I'm surprised a fighter or trainer hasn't tried to resurrect it.

 

You need to have the athleticism, speed and power to utilize that style, Frazier was great at it IMO as well.

I think also that most of the current or modern HW are tall, I think a short fighter can only use that style the way its supposed to be used.

Its like Berto trying to have the shoulder roll Defense with his T rex arms...:rofl

actually Berto would be a good size fighter to do the Bob and weave, short and stocky

People put too much value in excitement. Goal is to win fights and if you only see punches thrown you're missing out on a whole lot of little intricacies of the sport and what really goes on in the ring. Not to say I don't like some "fan friendly"(hate those words) fights but just my take.

There is no wrong answer and it is about personal preference. I understand sometimes Floyd can be a bit boring because his fights are so one-sided apart from Castillo fights & Cotto. With Tyson you get Douglas, Holyfield 1, Ruddock fights, Bruno 1, and so on which were solid fights. Manny you of course get his battles with JMM, Morales 1, Barrera 1, Cotto, Barotillo KO.

All solid fights don't mean to sound smug just get tired of the glorification of very sloppy fighters just cause they're "exciting". Just prefer longevity but more importantly skill.
