I wasn't thinking heavyweight. Berto is exactly the kind of fighter who could use it. He's fast, fairly powerful, and doesn't have a big reach.

 

Why you think I said pre-1990? Anyways tho that wasn't Tyson at his best, Douglas wasn't losing to just anyone that night inspired to win by the death of his mother. Mike wasn't using the bobbing and weaving or throwing many combinations he usually did. It was the beginning of the end. Of course he had IQ bro he was a complete fighter that attacked the body, used every punch in the book, knew how to evade jabs from much bigger men and get on the inside. Threw beautiful combinations which is rare for hw's who mostly go for the lone homerun shot. Tyson was tryin to get Buster out one shot at a time. Mentally and physically he was deteriorating. Tyson had a great boxing mind he didn't watch Dempsey, Ali, Frazier, and every fight in boxing for nothing.

 

but his mentality is "be a boxer" and he doesnt have the skills for that.

Being aggressive isnt always being smart. Tyson looked ferocious vs a bunch of stiff chumps. When he got in the ring with guys who could box he always got dominated.

I remember the first time tyson went 12 rounds, he looked terrible at the end of the fight. He was only a 6 round fighter which is why he had to blow his opponents away early.....

Just cause he admired old school fighters doesnt mean he had a large IQ, when did Tyson ever adjust to win a fight? Every time the odds were stacked against him he crumbled like a coffee cake.

 

Tysons opponents were better than Floyd's and his resume stacks up fine against Pac's as well

Tyson's fights often suffered from heavyweights being heavyweights - constant clinching.

 

1..Larry Holmes, I will give you that, although it was after a 2 years Larry Holmes layoff but thats it. Tyson was a 6 round fighter. He did knock out people impressively bit he didnt do it against impressive competition.

Frank Bruno who you're trying to put down was beating Lennox Lewis when they fought. Why is he a bum when Mike Tyson fights him, even though he was younger and closer to his peak when he fought Mike?
