If you had to Guess, Whos style would be closest to Harry Grebs?

I always pictured him being sort of like Jeff Fenech

 

Part Calzaghe, part Pryor, part Pep.

He sounds like everything good about Calzaghe, on steroids. Has to be extremely demoralizing fighting someone like that.

Robinson Castellanos, a present-day clubfighter, has an extremely unorthodox fighting style. While watching Castellanos fight in a couple of televised bouts, I wondered if his fighting style is similar to Harry Greb's.

Whatever style we can conjure, the fact remains that his 300 fight record
is surreal fighting men of ALL weights, many HOFers time and again, averaging 25 bouts a year, many bouts with unhealed injuries, and with all this Lil Ole Harry went the last 280 or so fights without ever being stopped.And to top this Greb fought the lkast 5 or so years BLIND in one eye.

My dad a Gene Tunney fan, saw Harry Greb pound Tunney like "a butcher pounding a Swiss steak" at the old MSG in 1922...Before the bout my dad was a Tunney fan. After the fight he would always tell me Greb was the greatest he had ever seen, and my dad and I saw Ray Robinson as a welterweight, for what it's worth...

Well that is interesting and there seems to be some similarities but without a fight film of Harry it is impossible to really know. We do know that neither of them were big punchers but made up for that by being very very busy and threw punches in bunches. I think they differ in style though, Jeff had hands up high, Harry had his low. Harry grew up in the ND era and did have to at times fight 20 rounds so holding hands high for 60 minutes is a bad idea. they must have had similar stamina, one a tiny bloke and the other a decent sized fella. I have been in the presence of Fenech a few times in pubs and at the fights and he is a little guy but has since bulked up a lot since retirement. Harry obviously endured many more rounds than Fenech did so I think Harry was better at avoiding the amount of punishment Jeff did, nearly every Fenech fight was a war. I don't know how Greb conducted himself out of the ring but I do know fenech has been a stupid mug on too many occasions, his temper is deplorable, I once sat drinking a beer talking to a mate a few metres away fro Jeff and a grey haired bloke about 65 years of age and for a while they seems good mates, suddenly Fenech is going off his nut and threatening to beat the hell out of this bloke, it took like half a second for him to go from smiling to a towering rage. It was unexplainable and if Fenech had gone any further and hit the old fella then he was off to jail, I wouldn't have protected him from the truth if the police had asked me what happened. Jeff hasn't changed, this incident was just 4 years ago. I was once a big fan of his but not any more, he once attacked a fruit seller and hurt the guy and he was still an active boxer at the time.
