Who and why? Do you think having one organization with majority rule would improve boxing? Would we get better fights more often? Yes I know this topic has been done to death. So let's breathe some more life into it.

I’m picking the WBO because I like their super status which allows more easily for multi division champions. Also WBO mandatories usually actually get their shot.

Great question for discussion. To go off on a tangent, I'd rather we kept the four organisations but reverted back to 8 weight divisions. Junior/Light/Super divisions are unnecessary and makes the sport more complicated than it needs to be.

If any of the above organisations make the rule that there is one world champion in each division only, that this nonsense of rematch clauses that halts title chances for other fighters is stopped, and that a title has to be defended at minimum of twice a year against the number one contender or title is immediately taken from the champion, then they get my vote.

IBF... they follow their own rules much better than the others. And thats enough to get my vote today.

Please don't say wbc. It seems like Maurice Sulaiman creates a new belt every time he farts. He also likes them sanctioning fees hence forth he made the Bridger weight division to collect more peanuts ($). If we're talking about one belt it may as well be the ring magazine belt. It has the most lineal chronology.

For me there is a massive gap here for someone to buy the ring and turn it into a legit superior belt.

If The Ring announced that they are launching with lower sanctioning fees. The top 10 is the true top 10 not just whoever has paid the fees and actually put the fighters in order.

For instance Heavyweight rankings as 1. Oleksandr Usyk 2. Tyson Fury 3. AJ 4. Wilder 5. Dillian Whyte all belt holders must make 1 mandatory defence within 1 year of the previous one.

The true second ranked fighter will be called. All promotional companies have to sign up any that don’t (PBC cough) will be know for protecting there fighters. That way the best fights are called once a year and if the other belts want mess around with meaningless fights and franchise champions that’s on them.

maybe rather than have international titles and silver champs there’s continental champions like The Ring European Champion and The Ring Africa champion. Every 3 years there’s a super six style tournament called where the continental champs fight for that years mandatory all of mandatories are 2nd ranked fighter

It's a shame because the WBC has the prestige over the others in terms of reputation and seeming clamour.

But IBF seem to have the best practices in place. No super belt, reasonable mandatory policies and most importantly they have the rehydration policy.

I can't remember the last thing the IBF did that felt egregious (besides their HW mandatory situation, but I put a lot of that on the promoters and a division full of very risk averse up and comers).

The one you hear about least is probably best.

I do think The Ring is the best regularly published list. The Transnational people occasionally throw out some super eccentric items.

Not sure about the continental tournament though. The 20th best Asian, European, or North American might be able to beat the best Australian, Africa, South American, and Antarctican on the same night in somendivisions divisions.

In reverse order by process of elimination:

4 : WBA - Franchise Champions??? GTFO, what an absolute mess!
    3 : WBC - Suliaimans...

1 : WBO - Aside from some odd mandatory rankings I don't get such a whiff of corruption as the previous
1 : IBF - As others have said they seem to follow their own rules pretty well, and with less controversy/confusion

I think it's probably not a coincidence that IBF and obvs WBO being the newest body to be recognised are the best, they maybe haven't had as long to get to the institutionalized corruption. But being honest, those bodies aren't exactly trailblazing, it's just the WBC and especially the WBA make them look good in comparison.

If there was only one, I honestly wouldn't care which one. A single belt would such a huge improvement that quibbling about which three letters it has seems unimportant.

The biggest downside of the IBF is weak rankings. Mostly because forcing your champions to fight mandos scares off the diva and makes it harder to pick and choose who you want to fight. But if the IBF was the only option that would be solved.
