What is this multiple attackers ****? Taking someone down, and then finishing that someone off, is not very realistic against multiple attackers.
first two names that i came to mind as soon as i read the title of this thread...Karelin & Fedor. But to be honest i'm not entirely sure.. .. it depends what type of battle we're talking about...if it's boxing i would obviously go for Tyson. If it's muay thai , i'd pic Aerts or Hoost...if we're only talking mma rules , then i'm forced to go with Emelianenko.
Winning is not very realistic against multiple attackers, unless they are absolutely cowardly and horribly unable to fight.
Thats what Rickson does, pull guard..he certainly cant fight standing up so no hes far from what Id pick
Relson Gracie once described an encounter when he had to defend himself from three attackers. Relson held one attacker in his guard - who he quickly choked unconscious - then used his guard to maneuver the unconscious attacker in between himslef and the two standing attackers. Once one of the others was close enough - he released the unconscious one - secured an ankle pick to a single leg takedown on the next one - kneed him in the groin as he hit the groundm, headbutted his mouth breaking several teeth - then let him go and took down the last one. End of fight. So according to Relson - pulling guard can be effective in the street. You may not believe it - but feel free to dispute the story to him.
\ If I see him I will tell him I believe him but Ill tell him hes wrong and I will tell him to talk to all hand to hand combat experts from the dojo to the streetfighters and to the military, theyll tell him good for him but he cant be teaching that ****
You must eat belligerence for breakfast or something. No one said anything about teaching whatever - it was relating an encounter of an effective use of the guard against multiple people. It's just the way that particular encounter turned out for him. That is all.
Yeah - but seeing as how Relson Gracie has been studying and training Brazilian Jiujitsu longer than all but perhaps one person in North America - I'm inclined to take him for his word.
If there's a link between studying Jiu Jitsu and truth- telling it certainly isn't obvious to me. :huh
You're right - obviously only people that recently began training jiujitsu know how the art works and are thus able to relate the truths of their experience. Anyone that has studied for a lifetime obviously has no idea what they're talking about. Give me a break. :huh
