Roy Jones at one time held SIX titles, so he must have been the mega super champions.

I think two belts is probably more realistic for the current state of boxing. What's crazy is even when you allow for two belts there are still only 3 champs=GGG, Ward, Crawford. I guess Gassiev should be one and Garcia/Thurman, Degale/Jack should give us a few more but that's a crazy low number.

Some of the most applauded fighters Gonzalez, Lomachenko are just beltholders.

With mandatory's and fees I think it's nearly impossible to stay unified champ for long

This. Who has the time or patience to hunt down 5 or 6 beltholders and then pay 6 sanctioning fees. At 2% to 3% of the purse per belt I can see why nobody cares about staying an undisputed champ. Floyd himself gave up the WBO belt to avoid the fee.

2 belts is enough to make a possible claim undisputed, but 3 makes it 100%.

but no mickey mouse belts, that's simply a warning sign that the guy might be disingenuous.

Lineage is a tool worth tracing but in this day and age it really doesn't say anything about quality.

The only true champions are those recognised by TBRB who's sole purpose is to track lineage.

Mayweather was "the man" at 154, but had only fought Cotto and a green and severely drained Canelo. Don't think Mayweather would have beaten Trout or Lara.

    WRONG.

Bumlovkin and Ward are NOT champions.

Alvarez is THE champion @ 160 and Stevenson is THE champion @ 175...

Not really. Darch was the first Super Flyweight to unify the division but nobody was calling him undisputed since Montiel was the WBO champ and made a great claim as one of the top Super Flyweights.

Same thing happened when Juan Diaz held 3 of the 4 major belts. He wasn't undisputed because Cassamayor was the lineal champ and another Diaz held the last belt.

well 3 is enough for me. you gotta draw the line somewhere.

I know it sounds a bit pick and mix, but 2 majors is a fair case, and 2 majors plus say 1 minor are more than enough. If someones disputing that kind of haul they can join the queue and get in the ring with you to take it.

Obviously some of this rests on who has the other "majors". If you got 2 majors and someone else has the other major, then your case for undisputed isn't so strong. Or if you win them as an "opportunist" and then just dump them straight away without fighting anyone else, that clearly weakens your case (Tyson fury is a good example of such an opportunist, since all hes done is beaten a 38 year old man, or another excellent example of a "opportunist unifier" was joe cowardzaghe for waiting 11 years for the right time to attempt to unify by waiting for Kessler (or another good smw) to get injured and then running away from the division before good opposition such as Froch or healed kessler put holes in his zero loss record.).
