Both were very, very close fights.

I really can't understand why anyone could definitively say that either guy one - case close.

Personally, I scored both fights for Pac but I have no problem with anyone giving JMM the nod. My only qualm is when people argue a clear win for either guy.

I watched rounds where both guys would look at each other for two minutes, pac throwing and JMM backpedeling. This happened over and over and over. Then finally jmm would land three punches, and pac would rush in and land three or four punches on him, then back to the same crap over and over and over. Honestly except for rounds 6 and 11 there were many many many swing rounds and I always wound up giving them to pac because like two minutes would pass before jmm would throw a punch, then they would go back and forth and land more or less equal blows, but pac was always always always more aggressive. Watch round 5 and imagine the round where pac isn't coming forward just looking at jmm. Nothing would have happened at all. He wasn't doing anything except stepping back, and this happened over and over and over. I can't score rounds for a guy who isn't doing anything, lands three punches, then gets hit three times in return. The guy who is missing more but coming forward, getting hit, and then landing in return deserves to win the round for making the fight, and this is the story of the whole fight except for rounds 6 and 11 where Marquez stepped up and really put it on Pac.

Instead of looking at how clumsy manny looks attacking look at JMMs offense and for the most part it just isn't there. It's really really hard for me to score rounds for him. He did much better in the second fight but he lost that first one. okay he lost both but he lost the first one by a wider margin.

Those who like to say Marquez came back to school Pac after their first round love to say Pac only had one good round (I thought he had 3 in the first fight). But look at Marquez, he had only two/three great rounds in the first fight and only one he won big in the rematch (the round were Pac got cut). Whereas Pac had two big rounds in the rematch. It's a joke the unwarranted credit Marquez gets for these fights, whereas Pac gets very little fighting even with or better than JMM in all but 3/4 of the 24 rounds.

I ordered JMMs career last week and watched every fight from his seventh fight on. I am not going to lie he was freaking awesome. His fight with Gervacio with only like 16 fights is amazing, he did not deserve to lose to Norwood, and his pro debut he got disqualified by knocking out the guy after the bell rang. In my mind he won 99% of the rounds he had fought in his career, including against Walker, and he should have been undefeated when he fought Pac.

BUT Pac almost beat him in one round and proceeded to fight evenly with him for the rest of the fight. I scored that fight today with an open mind but honestly the only aggression was from Pac all night long, and when he countered sharply Pac came right back, except those two great rounds. I just can't believe everybody seems to think he did enough to win every round when HE WAS BACKING UP AND NOT THROWING PUNCHES. and when he landed, Pac landed right back in addition to being aggressive from start to finish.

Marquez is great but he did not beat pac. Luckily in a third fight Pac really has gotten better. Bayless could have solved this debate for us really easily if he had just cared a little bit more about Marquez' health.
