They were disposed of inside the first 3rd of the fights and all were rated opponents. Ellis did not come out for the 5th rd

Again means nothing. You have no idea what your writing about. The idea is it took Frazier rounds to get going. He was in actuality the clearest example of a slow starter in my lifetime. For those like me who lived during that time and were close to the game they should concur. This is and was a widely understood issue with Frazier.

I lived through that time and was around boxing and following it closely before you.

I'd like to see a vote of members on whether they agree with your opinion of yourself ,ie, that you are the Bible Of Boxing.

Young people like yourself who just have no real clue and you don’t may concur with you. Those that lived through the time and were close to the game would know the truth. YOU don’t know nor bother to understand the truth. That’s unfortunate for only you.

Why did Don Dunphy say during Joes 1971 bout with Ali that Frazier was slow to get going in round one if Joe was not a slow starter?

Why do you find dozens of references regarding Frazier being a slow starter on the internet?

Why does every book ever written about Frazier mention his tendency to start slow?

    Fight of the Century
    Ghosts of Manila
    Smoking Joe

    Come to mind.

    Explain Dunphys comments.
Explain all the references for Joe being a slow starter.

Frazier was not a slow starter vs men his size or smaller or guys who could not hit back hard enough. This covers the majority of his fights. To say Frazier was a very slow starter is misleading. He smoked the smaller boxer types with ease.

Vs the best he fought ( Often vs. bigger men ) , I think he was a bit of a slow starter. See the Ali, Mathis, Bugner, or Foreman fights

    Fair enough?

    It's all relative.
Joe Frazier was a slow starter relative to the pace he worked up to (which was insane).
Compared to the average heavyweight, Frazier's start was probably not slow at all.

Joe stated himself he was a slow starter. Boxing 101. Opponents would jump on him early to try to take advantage of his slow start. One example is Ali in fight 1 where Don Dunphy points out that Joe is slow to start in round one and Ali is standing flat footed trying to get him out of there.

You could say most of them " disappeared " early from the ring.
