I really don't get that type of thinking. A fight should be judged on each round...the score should be calculated at the conclusion of each round and whoever has the highest scores wins. Simple.

Oscar beat Trinidad 116-112 clean and clear. Actaully layed the blueprint.

 

Career best performance from Oscar IMO.

I'm not into that line of thinking either, though I can't say it upsets me when a fighter gets fired by the judges like that..... certainly not in the same way as a man who fights his arse off and is ripped off by either the judges or a bull**** stoppage.

If a fighter wins he wins and I'd rather the right guy get the nod every time, but fighting like that you are almost asking for it. Obviously it was nowhere near as bad as Dirrell clocking up some serious miles, DLH made Tito look very average for the most part but his poor stamina let him down as it would several times from then on.

Funny thing is before that fight Oscar was known for having a great finish. He never trusted is second wind after that though.

I don't blame him for being cautious at the end. When you're fatigued it's much easier to get knocked out, would people that trash Oscar for being cautious prefer it if he took risks and got stopped?

Trinidad was a beast at that time. He really was a great pressure fight who understand the pressure points in the ring and never let you breathe. Oscar had to put on a special performance to get to that point and he boxed Felix's head off. His constant movement in trying to keep Trinidad off actually gave him blisters on his feet and that contributed to him being ultra cautious. Oscar's problem was he couldn't hide it when he was tired. Some fighters when they get fatigued can hide it well but De La Hoya couldn't and it cost him some huge wins.

 

Yeah.... he did pretty well to get over the line against Quartey in his fight immediately prior to that, but then blew it against Tito and also Mosley not long after.

I'm not sure why he'd blister, every time I play five a side I put cornflower on my feet.... surely they'd consider doing something similar?

Someone with as good a skillset as he had ought to have been able to handle Shane - taller, equal reach and enough of a dig to get Mosley's respect if not actually hurt him. The only advantage Shane has is speed.

 

He beat him easily in their 2nd outing though.
