P4P Floyd and Oscar are probabily pretty much even. But Oscar has to rank higher because he just did more and his competition pisses all over Floyds. Floyd doesn't get credit sometimes for what he did in the lower weights, but it still doesn't come close to De La Hoya's body of work and ambition to face a who's who of his era. When you look at who Oscar fought and when he fought them, Floyd can't really compete. It's an underrated, stella record and one of the best of the last 30 years, as i've said. No one can really trashed Oscar resume that much IMO. It's just hating if you do.

You're right. People do unfairly go on about De La Hoya 'losing all his big fights'. The only big ones he lost were the Shane first fight (which he avenged), Hopkins who was the bigger opponent and Pacquiao when he was faded.

Another myth is that Oscar got all the favourable decisions, which is just nonsense. But someone says something enough times and people start to believe it. Oscar and Ray Leonard have a lot of similarities in the sense that they're 'hated' because they were the glamour fighters who the networks naturally wanted to stay on top for as long as possible.

If we analyse and look a little closer, Oscar's first real close fight was against Sweet Pete. Now, i love Pete but that fight was not a robbery as many will have you believe. De La Hoya should've done better and was made to look bad, but there should be no problems with him winning that fight. He finished strong, controlled most of the action and although he was missing with a lot of flurries, Whitaker was at a stage in his career where he could make you miss, but he couldn't make you pay and he didn't make Oscar pay enough to say he was robbed in that fight. People have sympathy with Pete because of what happened against Chavez and Ramirez, but they shouldn't hold that against Oscar.

Against Quartey he gave himself every chance by finishing like a SOB in a fight that was there for the taking. Even though i actually had Ike winning that fight by 2 points, i don't think it was a robbery. You can say Oscar was done a slight 'favour' though. But scoring a 2 point round in the 12 in a really close fight gave him an argument for winning it.

The first Mosley fight was a classic and it was close. Mosley beat him clearly by about a couple rounds.

He was robbed against Trinidad and Mosley in the rematch (everyone should look at Shane's reaction when the decision is announced, Shane's an honest guy and he knew he lost that fight).

The only 'robbery' was against Sturm.

So, Oscar only really got a gift once and was robbed 2 times. The other's were really close fights which could've gone either and he gave himself valid reasons for winning by finishing real strong.
