To be frank, i thought it had something to do with film showing that Dempsey was out of the ring for a minute or so, against Firpo.


Then again, now i'm starting to doubt if you're just saying this to get the weight off your shoulders.

 

Man, that was long in the coming. And in the wrong effing thread!!!

Since that was a couple of years before Dempsey hit his peak and since he was fighting frequently and often ill prepared (like not having enough to eat days before a fight) I don't make too much out of. And that's coming from someone who thinks Dempsey is a bit overrated by some.

Anyhow, how good was Sudenberg? Was he any good or just an ordinary bum?

I believe i almost gave ... what's his name, the young kid, not SuzieQ..... a heart attack triggered by anger a few months back when i brought up that Dempsey was knocked down 7 (that's what i've read) times by an unranked middleweight.

I don't think it's much of a black mark on his record though, he was young and fought under terrible circumstances.

 

Is it that big of a deal tho? It's on boxrec of all places mate. Dempsey gets excused due to his supposed situation vs The Towering Inferno and that was a couple of years later. Ezzard Charles was dropped plenty of times early career and in certain bouts but sure made good despite it.

What's more interesting is how Dempsey gets a draw despite 9 knockdowns
