If you punch really hard anyways isn't being light an advantage at HW?

    This.

Marciano walked around at well over 200 lbs, but was forced to keep his weight down by his trainer, since he was lacking in height and reach.

Two of Marciano's opponents over 6 foot and over 200 lbs.

    Bill Wilson 6'3" 229 lbs
    Johnny Shkor 6'5" 220 lbs

    Both were knocked out.

Most of the other 6'+ over 200lb fighters that were ranked got beat by people Marciano beat.

Nino Valdez 6'3" 210 beat by Archie Moore

Bob Baker 6'2" 220 beat by Archie Moore

Coley Wallace 6'2" 200 beat by Ezzard Charles

    Archie Moore talking about weight

Most his defended were against bums. Against his stiff competition he was knocked out.

The best fighter he ever fought was Sanders. And he was flattened with ease.

I didn't, I stopped reading after the first paragraph.

Clearly a thread to bash Wlad.

Haye, Peter, Brewster x2, Sanders, Fury, Joshua, Povetkin, Chagaev, Byrd x2, etc. Don't act like he ahd a poor resume. The guy wiped out the division for Christ's sake.

Cool, he lost to Sanders. That doesn't invalidate his career. Plenty of guys had weak defenses at some point.

It's not created to bash him, but he he kept getting knocked out. He already has a glass jaw anyways so coming down in weight won't risk his chin.

I used him as an example to my theory. Not the other way around.

so you actually up to this moment dont know the full content of a post that you are happy to class as stupid.

Tinman is clearly using Wlad an example of a SUCCESSFUL SHW despite havning a bad chine. He is PRAISING wlad, and it is your prejudice that prevents you seeing it.

ok. enter stage right a Forrest Gump quote.

add in the other guy who koed wlad early, and your list reads as amost HALF that beat wlad.

Your list is hardly an indictment for wlad wiping out the division. Its that weak an argument that it could be used to show the opposite.

What you should have argued is that the Klitshkos COMBINED were able to d the job of ruling the division that normally one man does.

The irony in you claiming tinman is bashing wlad... is that you are the frist to bash wlad here.

There is alot more to it than punching power, you are guna get tied up with a bit of stand up wrestling, you are going to be fighting in close. But for some people it works, works for Wilder. Some people do look more muscled than they really need to though.

its not the actual additional weight that is helping you on its own.

in wlads case its the fact that he could lean over someone for perhaps 30-200 seconds a round (depending on how well the ref was paid to turn a blind eye to it) to use it agianst someone to tire them - but the flipside is wlad was carrying round that extra weigh the whole 4 minutes., so it was a bigger brden for him than his opponent, always.

way more important than the actual weight, would be related features such as more height, longer arms, keeping the chin ou fo reach of shorter opposition, that come with being bigger.

After all, a 5 foot ten superheavy with little arms would carry no advantages at all into the ring versus a 5 10 opponent, just disadvantages of tiring himself out with his extra weight.

Before getting KO'd by Purrity Wlad was coming in around 220-230, adding weight for strength and durability combined with Steward's tactics were the key factors of his ten year reign. Wlad would've been ragdolled jabbing and grabbing at 230lbs. Wlad was very strong at 240+, just clinching and leaning on his opponents tired the hell out of them. Wlad wouldn't have dominated the division coming in 20lbs lighter, his style depended on him being as heavy as he was.

Wilder got wobbled by a pretty weak Ortiz right hook.

Joshua ate a few Klitschko hooks without moving, a guy who is reknowned for having great hooks.

One piece of evidence in favour of increased weight.

Added weight = better punch resistance.

Listen you contrarian douche, Wlad was unified HW Champ from 2008-2015. In that time span, he beat and faced essentially every top HW. The only top guy during that time he didn't face was Valuev, which didn't take place because Valuev didn't like the offer.

In case you didn't know, when you face top guys consistently, you will eventually lose. Not to mention, Wlad nearly beat the top guy at HW at 41 years old. The only HW's in 2018 that are worth a damn are: Wilder, Fury, Joshua, and Povetkin. And Wlad faced 3 of them at the latter stages of his career. Age caught up to him.
