If you punch really hard anyways isn't being light an advantage at HW?

I listened first time when you listed a string of defeats for evidence of wlad smashing the division. You havent listned to YOURSELF clearly.

fitting that you used the word "contrarian", then.

Vitali Klitschko dealt with Corrie very well. He beat the living daylights out of him in fact. Proof positive that Vitali was the better brother and would have been a far better champion- just a shame he had a brother called Wlad who hogged the other belts which didnt allow him to become the clear undisputed champion

On topic- There is no reason why a less tall dominant HW champion cannot come along and be the undisputed one....Its just a different era now and these things go in cycles.

perhaps to the abdomen a little, but to a blow to the head, it doesnt on its own really.

a guy facing a clone of himself, who then packs on even 50lbs muscle or fat on, isnt going to get knocked out any slower from punches to the head.

so i agree a small amount of punch resistance to certain areas, but not an increased chin.

That's great. Moore's biceps are huge there. His arms look like tree trunks. Pre-steroids! Also, did you notice that he gets out of the car wearing his bathrobe?

A compilation of a fighters from the early to mid 20th century when the sports was still at it's infancy mixed with some known modern fighters against bums.
David Haye vs Dereck Chisora? So you really think there was a significant size deference between the two.
    Sultan Ibragimov vs Shannon Briggs?
2010-04-10 Evander Holyfield vs Frans Botha 220 lbs vs 250 lbs TKO8 Being out of shape (Frans Botha) is now seen as a size advantage?
There is so much wrong with your list, I don't know where to begin.

It was a compilation of times a fighter who was at least 30 pounds lighter beat a heavier fighter. The poster I was responding to said something like a good larger man beats a great small man every time. That's the context. I might also site Duran vs Barkley, Pacquiao vs De La Hoya or Margarito, Mayweather vs De La Hoya or Canelo, Roy Jones vs John Ruiz if you need more modern examples.

Also, maybe the careers of Dwight Qawi or James Toney could be instructive.

Not really. You need to be your comfortable weight, if you're overweight you're just carrying baggage, if you're underweight you are likely to be weak. You can punch hard at a light weight provided it is your ideal fighting weight!

Duran vs Barkley De La Hoya, Jones vs Ruiz, Mayweather vs De la Hoya and Canelo are decent examples. A great example will be something like Holyfield vs Bowe ll or Lennox Lewis vs Oliver McCall
De la Hoya vs Pacwas was a farce (Hoya was a walking zombie in that fight)
One thing you however neglect is the lack of significant height differences in some of your examples. When I talk about size as it relates to the heavyweight division, I put a lot of emphasis on height advantage. People always talk about how negative Vladimir Klitschko fought, but that fighting style is a textbook example of how a very tall heavyweight should approach his opponent. It would have done Rick Bowe a great deal but he chose to trade punches with a 6'1 Evander Holyfield. It's simple, yet very effective. I tell you, it will take a very, very, very, very, skilled SPECIAL heavyweight that's bellow 6"1 to beat a Lewis that fought Tommy Morrison, or the Vladimir Klitschko that fought Alex Povetkin.

It may be Vitali was the better brother in terms of chin and mentality but Wlad had his own strengths as anyone who stepped in the ring with him, or even sparred, will testify to. He could easily be sitting as a 42 y.o 12 year champion right now.

we've had this argument before, and the result is a bunch of pro weighters come on and keep repeating " fat/muscle makes your chin better becos....becos it just does!!!" without them ever justifyign their argument beyond that.

Its tired now, I am frankly getting bored of asking them "but why" again and again and again and again and again more than even typing the world again again.

A larger person will gain a given amount of momentum with a lower velocity. That, and F=MA, means he will suffer lower accelerations and the jarring of the brain will be reduced.

then you ought to have written the word height if that was what you meant.
