    Guys,

If you think about it, if someone asked you to create a fighter who would possess all the necessary attributes to defeat Pacquiao it would be a boxer exactly like Mayweather. To beat Pacquiao, you need the following:

Comparable speed and/or great timing - Check

A very good, quick jab - Check

    A longer reach - Check

A good right hand due to the fact that it's the most effective punch against a southpaw (just think of the times when a southpaw has been dropped and you'll see that 80-90% of the time it was by a right hand) Check

A good left hook is also very effective against a southpaw - Check

    A high ring IQ- Check

Very good footwork & quickness -Check

    Great defense -Check

High degree of versatility and adaptability - Check

    A solid chin - Check.

Experience in big fights - Check

    Experienced corner- Check

    Confidence- Check

    Comparable stamina- Check

    Great accuracy - Check

Enough power to earn Pac's respect - Check (contrary to what many believe, Floyd does)

*The only way I see Pacquiao winning this fight is if he hurts Mayweather and either knocks him out (highly unlikely), or forces him to go into his shell and kick into survival mode and beats him on points due to Mayweather's sheer lack of activity for fear of being stopped. Barring that happening, Mayweather wins on points due to his superior boxing skills and attributes listed above.

I can think of a lot of fighters in history who would beat Pacquiao easier than Mayweather.

The only way Pac beats Mayweather is if he outworks him and scores a close decision. And even if that happens, Mayweather will land the cleaner and the harder shots.

He is. He lacks the workrate and power though, only reason why I call it 50/50. You need to make Pac respect you, as well as clever counterpunching. Both JMM & Morales showed this...if PBF goes in there simply trying to run all night as he did with Baldo, Pac's confidence will only peak and will go after him like a mad man.

JMM with PBF's defense would be the perfect foil to Pac, other than that you got someone like Tommy Hearns :)

Pacquiao can beat Mayweather. Pacquiao WILL beat Mayweather when they fight. Why people are still underestimating Pac is beyond me. Floyd struggles against guys who apply a lot of pressure on him - just check out the De La Hoya, 1st Castillo, and parts of the Ricky Hatton fights. The difference is, Pacquiao won't wilt like De La Hoya, he is faster and hits harder than Castillo, and has better defense - and a better chin than Hatton.

    Pacquiao by SD or UD

    Solid reasoning.

However I think Mayweather can do a lot of the things JM Marquez did that gave him fits; don't think because May fights at a low tempo he can't up it when he has to.

Here's the problem with your post, Castillo is the only guy he really struggled with. And in that fight, he was coming up in weight and was injured going into the fight. Castillo was bloodied up in the rematch and clearly lost. Castillo said he had no desire for a third fight. Hatton landed about 6 punches a round, won only 1 round on two judges cards(he won 2 on the third card), was totally outclassed and stopped. Hoya did ok for himself, but he was much bigger than Floyd, and had a longer reach. He still only landed about 10 punches a round and didn't land much besides a jab. The one judge who gave it to Hoya scored the 10th for Hoya. Now Hoya was outlanded by an almost 3-1 margin in that round. It was the most lopsided round of the fight. That goes to show you just how much that guy's scorecard should be trusted. In reality, Oscar won about 3 or 4 rounds. Let's also not forget that Baldo, N'Dou, Corrales, and Chavez all tried to pressure Floyd. They all got embarressed. Only 1 fighter has had success pressuring Floyd and he got beat up in the rematch.

Now let's look how Pacquiao did against an excellent counterpuncher with good technical skills and a good lead right. That fighter is of course Marquez. That fight hanppend fairly recenlty. Marquez landed way more punches, held Pacquiao to a 20 something % percent connect rate, and bloodied Pac's face up. Mayweather has many of the same tools that Marquez possess except that he's bigger, longer, faster, and better defensively.

Floyd is definitely the sort of fighter that can and will give Pacquiao trouble.

that is why it would be a BIG win for pac if he pulls this one. almost all the advantages are for floyd in this fight: skills, defense, size, height, reach, etc. the only thing that makes people think pac could win is his ability to surprise us when we are counting him out.

I agree. This would be a HUGE win for Pac, HUGE. It's very surprising that he started off as the favorite.

No **** its obvious to anyone with a brain! the only thing to beat an awsome offense is an awsome defense I dont expect this fight to be as exciting but if PBF cant shutdown Pacs offense he is ****ed.
