Nowadays, it’s a cliché among yourselves to criticize fighters who "go after the big fish" instead of staying and cleaning a certain weight by fighting semi-popular and semi-proven fighters to the delight of fans. You've forgotten that fighting is first and foremost a profession, a livelihood and a business. few fighters genuinely "fight for the fans" and when they do so, its because they know that being popular with the fans would ultimately benefit their careers in the long run.
Many have criticized manny pacquiao for fighting DLH instead of cleaning out a division which he could have done but would perhaps leave him battered and torn albeit, successful. With DLH, he has a chance to earn the same respect, status and honor that he would gain by cleaning out the 135lbs. division, or perhaps more in a single fight and for a bigger payday than he would earn perhaps fighting all the good boxers at lightweight.
Many have dismissed this as cherry-picking, completely missing the fact that DLH is a bigger threat to manny than anyone at his weight range.
Hoping for a fan-friendly fighter to pick-up what pacquiao has abandoned, the idealist fans now turned to JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ. he has the potential to unify and clean out a division that is so deep and talented, only skillful fighters like him and pacquiao could dominate.

Let's be real here . . . JMM may want Hatton . . . but does Hatton wants JMM? Will the money at stake be big enough for Hatton to take the fight?

It always takes two to TANGO. :deal

Guys, in a country such as ours, we vote with our dollar. Pay for fights you want to see and don't pay for the other ones that mean nothing to you. But don't just drop your money on anything your fighter does. If Pac and Marquez thought they would make more in a trilogy against each other than against Hoya and Hatton the fight would be made instantly.

He might want to go after what Morales and Barrera are trying/tried to do and thats capture a title in four different weight classes.

I think hes trying to back door Pac. If he beats Hatton then Pac has no one else to fight but him. This **** is getting ridiculous

you expect so much from your fighters, thats the pit fall of idealist fans. boxers fight for money. fighting and beating hatton would make more bucks for JMM than by fighting anyone at lightweight. hatton may even give him a fair share of the purse than pacquiao would give him should pac continue with his plan to promote their third fight. YEP PACQUIAO PLANS TO PROMOTE THEIR REMATCH NEXT YEAR.

but going for hatton would give marquez more bucks and winning secures his legacy. PAC then would be forced to give him a bigger share of the pie in their third fight.

I know this hurts you idealist fans. Pac broke your hearts by leaving lightweight to face DLH. just when you thought you've found your new love-interest in MArquez, here he comes saying he intends to break your hearts again.

you just have to accept and support your fighters. Fighting for bigger money isn't bad as long as it ISN'T CHERRYPICKING- FIGHTING AGAINST A LOWER RISK OPPONENT COMPARED TO THE OPPONENTS HE DID NOT OPT TO FIGHT.

The problem is not about Pac going after big money, at least not for me, the problem is that some posters try to ignore that the main motive is money, and on top of that they try to sell the idea that he is doing it more for glory than anything else, and then they start talking about courage.......

Does Pac have a chance? Sure he does, anybody has a chance, Buster Douglas beat Mike Tyson and the odds were 41/1, however, it is unlikely that Pac will prevail, eventhough the odds are going to be closer.

Any boxer at 135/140 would have taken the fight against Hoya if Hoya had made an offer to any of them. Lets not forget that Forbes fought Hoya a few months ago for peanuts, so lets dont talk about courage here, I didn't hear that word when Forbes fought Oscar in May.

Now we have JMM, the same thing, going after big money, why? because he is old and he only have a few fights left..... chances are he is not going to get Pac in the ring for the money he wants, so I guess he is thinking about going for the big money as well.... the only difference here is that JMM has a better chance to beat Hatton than Pac beating Hoya.

IF JMM wins, then he might tempt Pac to fight him for a third time.

Good move for JMM, (if he can get Hatton in the ring) a fight with no risks and big rewards, he gets big money and if he loses, then it is not a big deal, because I think that weight is a little too much for him, he can always come back to 135, same as what Pac is doing.
