I actually met one of my best friends by sparring him. He was an instructor (I was 22) and there were an odd number of people available. He paired off with me and I gave it my best while most people were kind of afraid of him. I landed a decent short left, then got my ass whipped for a bit. When he backed off and I came right back at him, I earned his respect. Through the years we've given each other plenty of bumps and bruises, then laughed about them afterwards.
Yeah, we could probably just trade punches there without fear due to good chins and lack of pop, I have long arms too btw and a very fast jab, we're somewhat similar but if your stamina is good you could probably outwork me every time, but i'll probably keep you at bay with my jabs:bbb
Fighting with their styles and fighting with their styles with any kind of success are different things.
Duran. I even look like El Cholo. Not the biggest puncher, but heavyweihts I've sparred with feel my power. I think its mostly has to do with the footwork, positioning, defense first, timing, and form that I use. I'm in my 30's, but even the 20 yr olds think I'm fast. I'm very old school. I'll rewind a certain fighters move 30 times on video to study everything on it from the opponents position and distance to their strengths and weaknesses. I know what its like to get a livershot, dislocated jaw, and get blackedout by a decapitating brain rattling shot. I know softer punchers can stop you methodically taking their time like Floyd, a powershot here and there, you get alittle dizzier with each shot, and by the time you know your in trouble its too late. I learned abit from my Mexican, Puerto Rican, and American sides how each style can beat as well as lose to the other. Almost like a game of paper, rock, scissors. I'm the nicest guy outta the ring, but I dont care who you are or were or come from you gotta show me or prove to me what your about. Inside the ring I just think what Duran might of thought. Pretty much kill you. Haha.
Joe Louis Not the fastest guy, but always in the right spot, and harder to hit than it looks. Give me an opening and the fight's not changed. It's over.
If you look like your avatar, e, it might be tough convincing people you're the second-coming of Hands of Stone.
Jack Johnson outside of the ring - the baddest mo****er going Linares with an iron chin and a bit more power. So easy on the eyes yet doomed to be shattered for his whole career.
