If you were a young boy, what all time great would you like to be taught by how to defend yourself?

There are certainly numerous good examples. I think interesting ones are:

    1.) Gene Tunney
Experienced, smart and intelligent self-made man. He lived in rough times, rose from humble beginnings, and systematically created his own path to the top. Probably not the greatest natural talent right from the beginning but with the ability to always improve. in addition, he was educated and highly literate. That's why he may have some interesting insights or wisdoms that go beyond boxing. He also learned a lot about anatomy to exploit his opponent's weak spots.

    2.) Jack Blackburn
Super experienced legend from the old days who fought Gans, Langford, Greb...
Successful trainer who formed the great Joe Louis... Does it need anything more?

Other great teachers would be Archie Moore, Floyd Patterson...

Someone along the lines of Archie Moore, Ricardo Lopez, or Miguel Cotto. Not every great is a good teacher so... definitely a tough question @Richard M Murrieta

If there was a poll on this I reckon Archie Moore would be the most popular pick - and for good reason. His teachings wouldn’t just focus on combat, he would instruct you holistically, prepare you for life and living altogether.

Excellent point - every great wouldn’t necessarily be as successful as a teacher.

Will Munny: “That’s right. I’ve killed women and children. I’ve killed just about everything that walks or crawls at one time or another. And I’m here to kill you, Little Bill, for what you did to Ned.”

Little Bill: “Err, I’ll take the 7 point suppository option if it’s still on offer, please??”

I dunno. Perhaps Will Munny makes Harry Callahan sound not so dirty?

Little Bill: You sir are a cowardly son of a *****. You just shot an unarmed man.

Manny: Well he should have armed himself … if he’s going to decorate his saloon with my friend.

Pat Cowdell. A defensive wizard and counter punching genius. I trained in he same gym and saw him close up. Use the the shoulder and angles to find a shot. Saw Don Curry close up too. Beautiful Boxer.
