If you were Cleverly's promoter...would you put him in with Hopkins?

Would he look worse than Enrique Ornelas, Roy Jones or Joe Calzaghe?

There are not really any great progression fights to be had. Nobody that stands out as a good fight to announce his arrival on the world scene.

It's a kinda barren division right now. You either fight an old man, Hopkins or Johnson, or you fight Pascal/Dawson who are a step too far.

Nobody else gets much attention. Hopefully it will hot up in a few years with Cloud, Clev, Bellew and Silakh coming through.

Maybe he could fight Diaconu. He's decent and exciting but limited.

Not at all (though I think Calzaghe's performance agaisnt Hopkins is one of the most under-rated by any British fighter in the last 20 years). However, if Frank Warren wants to sell Cleverly to the general public then he should steer well clear of Hopkins.

I think selling most fighters to the public is a bit of a pipedream. I struggle to see anybody selling too many PPV's if Amir Khan found it hard to shift them. Haye is maybe just starting to border on that type of recognition, maybe, and the main reason he did that was because he has the advantage of being a heavyweight and the novelty factor of fighting Valuev.

The only way I could see him doing it is building up a big following in Wales like Calzaghe did, performing well at the highest level and getting it to the point where people can't ignore him.

Hatton is once in a generation with that crossover appeal.

you'd have to be extremely confident in clev's abilities to put him in with hopkins or johnson now.

hopkins is still clever enough to take Clev to school.

Clev could knock Roy Jones out.

I think Glen Johnson would be a good fight.

He's nearly 41, tough as nails etc, but if Clev has ambitions at the top level he needs to be beating those kind of opponents.

Sticking at Euro level won't do him any favours.

Sticking at Euro? He needs to fight someonme at Euro level first. His last opponent was a soft touch joke.

No way. Hopkins had been written off annually for the last 6 years. Chances are he'll have some kind of resurgence before he calls it a day. He's certainly got enough left in the tank to soundly beat a relative novice like Cleverly - who he could potentially ruin in the process.

He should go nowhere near Hopkins right now...:yep

He should just keep doing what he is doing...it will be good to see his development in the next 12-18mths when he has been full time at boxing...:yep. He has done really well getting where he has got whilst at University...:good
