If you were Clottey, what would your game plan be?

Philla and arsabs are right on: Be the bigger man. Use your size, rough Pac up, smother his speed and activity. Muscle him.

When you're not leaning on Pac, use your sound defense. Let Pac fire flurries into your gloves and be ready to throw counters after Pac is done with his combos.

Take Pac to the ropes as Cotto did early.

Clottey is much larger than Pacquiao is. He has to use that advantage to have a chance to win the fight.

Its puzzling to me why so many are dismissing Clottey's chances........he really does have the defense and know how to win the fight.

What he has to avoid is the long lapses of inactivity during stretches of the fight.......if he can be conscious of that, he's got a real chance to beat Pacquiao imo.

Your post is exactly why I don't really see him winning. I just feel like he will lapse into periods of inactivity like he did against cotto.

Also from what I've seen recently using the jab and actually BOXING manny is much more effective. Cotto did it for one round then got over confident and fell into the trap of brawling with Manny and got beat around.

Since I don't see that happening I'd agree with the "dirty boxing" and giving manny and tough time and frustrating him early. Definitely an uphill battle for clottey whose trainer wont even look at recent tapes of manny :patsch

those are probably outlawed in Texas until after the fight lol

but just look at clotteys camp in comparison to pacman's. Clottey couldn't even get his preferred trainer in the states, he has a former cutman of manny's training who claims he doesn't have to look at manny tapes every though the last time he worked with manny was years ago. I don't even think Clottey's camp thinks he can win. It just seems like they are happier to just be there in the first place. I hoping I'm wrong on that and that it will be a great fight but I'll guess we'll see

Didn't someone here post a Clottey quote saying he will be 155 max on fight night. If so I definitely believe he's got the wrong plan.

As this fight gets closer I keep changing my mind. I think Clottey would definitely stand a chance under normal circumstances. But my cynicism tells me he really is just the Top Rank fall guy and not to mention his disastrous training camp.

But his game plan should be to stay busy and rough Pac up. Try to frustrate Pac which will likely make him revert to headhunting and you've got him where you want him, whether he can finish him is another matter.

Step forward forcefully behind a jab and he should impose himself physically on Pac and also land as many hard straight rights as he possibly could. The key will be a good jab because we all know that a solid jab can be an annoyance to Pacquiao so if Clottey does that things can open up for him in this fight and he might have a chance.

I see Clottey's best chance at winning being.

He NEEDS a very tight defense.
Try to block as many combination punches as possible.
Try catching Pacquiao as he is moving in, and then when he is moving out.
Clottey needs to stay in the centre of the ring, his back against the ropes could be game over.
Deploy a stiff jab, and a lead right hand has been effective against Pacquiao in the past.
He needs to up his work rate, especially in the latter rounds.
Lean on him in a clinch, try and wear him down.
