For Cotto: Let's work on your stamina and speed. For Clottey you need to do a lot of lateral movement, use the hell out of your jab so you can manage the distance and make him use his main weapon against him... His defense... Make Clottey be in the turtle defense at least 90% of each round. Every time that Clottey is in his shell, he doesn't throw punches... He has to open himself in order to punch. Box Box, Move Move... If you are able to frustrate him in the first 5 rounds he may try to do something different and that will be the chance for you to really exploid him. At the end of the day Clottey is really a one dimensional fighter with one hell of a defense, chin and stamina. For Clottey: Watch Margo's fight over and over... Cotto can punch himself out however, don't let that be your strategy as they may be working on his stamina... Wear Cotto down with your defense and ring smarts. Take him against the ropes and work on his body for the first 4 rounds... Try to crack his nose again as that takes a lot of air from him as he bleeds fairly easy... You have to manage to win whatever round in the first half and all rounds in the second half... Don't stop throwing punches and presure him, make him back pedal all the time and when you get him against the ropes and corner take all the advantage. I CAN'T WAIT FOR SATURDAY TO BE HERE...
i'd tell clottey lay down in the second because everlast has sponsored us to show the bottom of our new kicks.
Cotto: "Pace yourself & invest in body attacks against Clotteys high guard. Forget about the head hunting like in the Margarito fight, & stay away from the ****ing ropes". Clottey: "Don't stand around and wait for him, apply pressure like never before. If you stand around and wait for him you will be beat to the punch everytime. Try to confuse him by clinching & hitting him with uppercuts on the inside. Stay busy the entire fight"
Cotto: Go to the body for the first six rounds and try to move your head and not get hit early as often as in the previous fights. Than switch your left hood to the head in the late rounds. Use your jab to neutralise Clottey speed. Clottey: Don't move and wait to be brutally knocked out
Cotto - maintain range with good footwork and utilise the jab Clottey - simple - punch output. He has the chin to go the distance, but he needs to wear Cotto down with sheer volume of punches, throwing the odd shot here and there will hand the fight to Cotto on a plate.
