im not defending this guy, nor do i even agree with him turning down a klitschko fight.

but as is so often the case, it is worth while putting yourself in his shoes.

so you get to keep your own mentality, but lets pretend you are david haye for a second.

you promoted yourself fo the majority of your career
you have took fights for **** money in the past
you stepped up soon and got swatted down again
you achieved your dream of unifying the cruisers
you achieved you second dream of becoming heavyweight champ
you will become a very wealthy man due to the audley fight
you are a draw, and probably will give wlad his biggest ever payday
you genuinely believe you are the biggest draw in the hw division

    so would you:

    a) take a 50/50 fight with wlad
    b) try to keep all of the uk money, even if it risks the fight never takes place
    c) avoid fighting k2 full stop because you dont think you can beat them

I'd take 50/50 and give the fans a fight they can truly get excited about. It's not about winning or losing for me, it's about taking on the legit threats and doing the sport proud.

fair play to ya. im not sure i'd be so loyal to the sport. if i was wlad i would definitely not offer 50/50 anyways. and if i was haye, im not sure i'd accept it.

For legacy, fight the Klits. For money, probably cash in on the uk fights, and then the Klits. The Klits, at least their promoters, are notoriously known to not give the best deals to their opponents, but 50-50 is fair being a fight where both are champions and both are big names. But I think the playing field would be more equal as the Klits age abit more and slow down abit, but there is also the risk of Haye losing to someone before he actually gets down to fighting a Klit. Also, like RJ, Haye is a fighter that depends on reflexes, not so much skill, so he shouldn't really be hanging around the HW division for too long. 2-3 fights in the UK and then get his rumpus to Germany or forever be labeled a coward.

David Haye is only a 'draw' on the basis that hes the man to take on the Klitschkos and make the heavyweight exciting again.

So without Wlad or Vitali he wouldnt be getting **** all and wouldnt be on PPV.
He'd probabaly be at cruiserweight still where nobody gives a ****

but he still believes he is a big draw. and that is the key. putting yourself in his shoes.

    Well I’d be thinking:

“****, I really am beginning to look like a ***** here. After all the smack I’ve been talking for the past two years, I really can’t afford to back out of a fight with them now. It’s embarrassing enough that I’m facing Audley Harrison after I scuffed at the possibility of fighting him. ****ing hell, come to think of it, EVERY promise I’ve made so far, I’ve gone back on it. I’m beginning to look like the biggest hypocritical joke of the sport right now.

That’s it, after I obliterate Audley, I’m going to accept that 50/50 offer with Wlad or Vitali. That’s the least I should do."

Lots of big talk from people that will NEVER get anywhere near his shoes, let alone come close to having to make a decision like he faces.
All this bull**** about legacy, this is a ****ing job first and formost.People would do well to rember that.
Now iam not defending him, nor bashing him.
But some of the dribble spouted by you guys makes me laugh.
Easy to st here and share your opinions without ever having to put anything on the line.
    Bunch of jokers.

I´m glad I´m not. He´s either a coward or a future KO victim. I don´t want to be either.
