If u were his managment who would u get dennis boytsov to fight next?????..........i would go for a past prime kali meehan who is still lurking in the top 10......kalis tall i kinda wanna see him fight tall guys to see how he handles it....and if he blows meehan away....it would make chagaev look worse at this point.......what u guys think????
Take on a reasonable but low risk fighter and then go directly after Haye, because I actually favour him over David. WBA Contenders list. 1. RUSLAN CHAGAEV (OC) UZB This content is protected 2. NICOLAY VALUEV RUS This content is protected 3. DENNIS BOYTSOV (WBA I/C) RUS This content is protected
Someone along the lines of Meehan sounds about right. He probably needs 2 or 3 more fights before trying to step up big, especially after his long layoff. Also, I don't like the way his trainer has taken away most of his aggression. That was what made him a little special. If he tries to box too much, he's just another undersized heavyweight with a good right hand.
Chagaev is the mandatory, like it or not. They're not going to name another mandatory while there's already one outstanding. There are plenty of countries where they'll let Chagaev fight. Also, Hep B isn't necessarily a chronic condition.
That's why I said "Hep B This content is protected so a no go..." Valuev used it to get out of the fight and didn't get punished for it, Haye probably wants the fight to take place in Britain (money/home adavantage) and Chaga is not really the fighter Haye likes. There is a way out, I think he takes it.
Meehan would be a good choice and after that maybe Tony Thompson. I still think that Boytsov is too much hype. He´s not as good as some people believe.
Thompson could be dangerous for an inexperienced guy like Boytsov. Tall, southpaw, experienced, took some punishment from Wlad before he folded. Maybe too dangerous.
He's only 24, but he's has 27 fights. I think its time to step it up. Tony Thompson would be a tough fight and would really show us what sort of fighter Boytsov is, but its the sort of fight he needs to progress at this point
Boytsov is coming back from surgery, he`d better not get right to the toughest fight of his pro career against Meehan and discover his hand is not fine. Let him fight Firtha, Mo Harris or the argentinian Basile, at first, then take on Meehan. Going after Haye might not be the best path. Chagaev is already the mandatory and should be enforced in 2011, which means another mandatory only for the year of 2012. There are also the Klitchkos in play, Haye is after the big money fights, which Boytsov is not.
Meehan sounds smart and then get in line to fight Haye. He is young enough to wait for both Klitschko's to retire. Although i think if he captures the WBA he would go after 1 of the brothers.
Yeah, a Meehan like character would be OK. Maybe follow it up with somebody like Michael Grant (who seems to be a 'name' now after the Adamek fight) after that, before fighting other top guys. But IMO if you're ranked #4, it's time to start fighting decent competition.
