seriously guys if you were in floyds exact position with all the money and all those wins over great fighters what would you do next? i would seriously fight cotto/margo winner because i wouldnt want critics doing me in for the rest of ma life, and then win or lose retire and buy myself an island and call it floyd land!!!

Because i simply fink floyd has accomplished a lot and is an amazing talent to retire with cotto over his head.

    thoughts?

The critics would bash him if he beat Cotto because they would say he was ducking the next guy. These haters won't stop they'll never give him any credit for whatever he does. Hatton too small, Oscar shot, Zab a bum, Chico weight drained see the pattern here. Everytime he wins against people they say he will lose to after the fight they're full of excuses and try to discredit his win. I know for a fact if he beat Cotto they would do the same. They hate the guy so much becasue he beat most of their favorite boxers easily and talked **** while doing so that's the real problem they have with him.:deal

No I don't like Floyd much but if he beat Cotto there would be nothing left to say. Frankly though he doesn't need Cotto at this point and Cotto won't need him in a year or two. But it woul dbe nice if they fought.

To answer the thread question: I would stay retired so that the boxing world doesn't have to put up with the pointless fights with Hatton and Oscar and only come out of retirement to fight Cotto. Cause thats the only real fight for him right now.

I would fight Cotto and Margarito because I would want to know if I really am the best or just full of shite.
All of the top boxers have enough money to live a long, luxurious life, but where would the sport be if all of the best guys decide to retire in their prime without facing the toughest competition just because they don't need more money? FFS Jermain Taylor could have retired an undefeated champion had he ducked Pavlik and said he had nothing left to accomplish.

Like Pimp C said verbatem. Anybody who is a Floyd fan over the years know this to be true. If you take a short trip back to pre ODH fight ODH was supposed to knock him out with the first left hook that lands....lol.....................I am not exaggerating either.

PBF was a great LW fighter and thats all he should be remembered for.

And toopretty. YOu must be ******ed if you actually thought DLH was supposed to knock out PBF with one left hook. I think the actual prediction for that fight was PBF outboxes DLH in a not so stellar fight.

Yep. A lot of people thought PBF would have no answer for Oscar's left hook and would be stopped by it. I remember the pre-fight wars I had with people here like Beware, Mundo, Bazooka and others.

everybody knew oscar was past his best, and i'm pretty sure pbf was the favorite. pbf should do a couple of more fights: shut up the critics and fight cotto/margo (there's no one else the haters would say he should fight) and make some big money in the process ( he loves money and he'll have no other chance in his life to make that type of money again). he's 31 now, might as well finish the job and then retire.

Fight Cotto and retire. Or fight Cotto and then Oscar again.

If I was in Floyd's position and didn't have the motivation to continue anymore then I'm better off doing something else, this is boxing it all comes down to being motivated for it. When you start early you want the legacy/legendary fights AND money and use both those reasons to motivate you, when you think you have done more than enough then it's big money/mega events that motivate you, when you accomplish both then there's nothing left to use and retirement could be the best option. For those that think Mayweather NEEDS Cotto, it's the other way around.
