If you were Hamzah Sheeraz's manager, which route would you take for him to become a world champion?

Which route should Hamzah Sheeraz take to become a world champ at middleweight?

  1. WBA

    12.5%
  2. WBO/IBF

    62.5%
  3. WBC

    25.0%

Hamzah Sheeraz says he plans to fight for the world title in the next 1-2 years. If you were his manager, which route would you push him to take to become a world champion at middleweight. Here are the options:

The WBO and IBF title will be unified in October when Janibek Alimkhanuly faces Vincenzo Gualtieri so he could face the winner of that (which will probably be Janibek).

Erislandy Lara currently holds the WBA title and was supposed to fight Danny Garcia in August but that hasn't happened yet for whatever reason. You also have Michael Zerafa, Shane Mosley Jr and Austin Ammo WIlliams waiting for their chance to get a shot at this title.

Finally, you have the WBC title which Jermall Charlo currently holds, Carlos Adames is the WBC interim and Hamzah is the WBC Silver champ.

Personally, if I was in charge, over the next year I would have Hamzah fight 2 more times in preparation for a world title shot. It could be against Denzel Bentley and maybe someone like Maciej Sulecki. It could even be the winner of Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr. Then as far as which title he should fight for, I feel like the WBA is probably the easiest route but a lot of people want a shot at it so he likely wouldn't be given the opportunity (he also isn't ranked in the WBA). The WBO/IBF will be unified by Janibek most likely and I think Jani is the best fighter at this weight so I wouldn't go for that title first. That leaves the WBC where Hamzah is the WBC Silver Champ, maybe try and get the opportunity to fight Jermall Charlo coming off a 2-3 year layoff? Or perhaps it'll become vacant and Hamzah vs Carlos Adames would be ordered (which I don't see Hamzah beating Adames). What do you guys think?

I would avoid the winner of Smith vs. Eubank Jr. Unnecessary risk at this stage. He needs to stay undefeated until he gets a final eliminator.

Well he should fight Denzel Bentley next - that's if his team want it. Anyway, what's up with all these Hamzah Sheeraz threads you are starting ?

My best advice would be to have patience. He´s not ready for the world stage yet.

We all know uncle Frank is waiting for the WBO title to become vacant for him so he can fight for an easy vacant title so yeah, that's the route we'll see him go down.

I just don't see that happening with Janibek as the champ.

Fair point, but I guess it depends on how long Frank is willing to wait on Sheeraz. He's only 24 so he has plenty of time on his side. I'd say he's still a year orb2 away from challenging for a world title.

WBC should strip Jermall for inactivity and drug use , dude been getting high lol

The silver and Interim should fight for the vacant title .. Frank Warren needs to push WBC to strip Jermall the guy been inactive for like nearly 3 years it's a joke ..

I believe we will see the best of Hamzah at 168lbs .. he getting that man power now he just turned 24yrs old .. kid can bang..

How much of a chance would you give Hamzah if he faced Carlos Adames?
    What about Janibek?

Tbh both are tough fights , but if Hamzah beats Bentley with ease the confidence that would give Hamzah would be the key..

Hamzah has reach over both it comes down to sticking to a gamelan.. at this point those are 60/40 fights .. you have to favor the champions .. but I believe Hamzah can pull it off, he works extremely hard under Ricky and is very dedicated to the sport..

In Frank Warren's recent interviews, he's been saying that they're looking to get bentley or hamzah in a fight against the winner of Guatelieri/Janibek. Frank's hoping that hamzah or bentley wins so that they can setup hamzah vs bentley for the title. So it looks like they aren't fighting each other next. What about hamzah facing the winner of liam smith and chris eubank jr. next? Or do you think he needs another fight before that to prepare him like perhaps against a Sulecki type of opponent? Either way, it seems like hamzah will be fighting for the title very soon, i just hope hes had all the stepups hes needed for it.

Personally I would avoid the Smith vs Eubank winner , their near the ends of their careers and no world titles on the line there too..

Which ever way it works out I think next year Hamzah will get his world title shot .. I think he needs 2 more fights before the world title shot..
