If you were Hamzah Sheeraz's manager, which route would you take for him to become a world champion?

Which route should Hamzah Sheeraz take to become a world champ at middleweight?

  1. WBA

    12.5%
  2. WBO/IBF

    62.5%
  3. WBC

    25.0%

Why do you keep calling him by his first name “Hamzah”? Do you know him?

Realistically they should make Sheeraz vs Bentley first and then look at fighting Janibek who will surely beat Gualtieri. I don’t think Sheeraz beats Bentley let alone Janibek.

Liam Smith would stop Sheeraz very quickly…

As I said before Sheeraz will fight again this year before hopefully Bentley and Sheeraz finally fight each other early next year.

Not a fan of Liam Williams as an opponent who has been out of the ring for 18 months but if Sheeraz fights Bentley then no complaints.

Unfortunately it seems like this will clash with Matchroom's proposed date for a card in London apparently. I don't think Matchroom will mind though because they have Cameron vs Taylor II the week before and the following two weeks are Haney vs Prograis and Rodriguez vs Edwards.

I think Willy Hutchinson might be on the undercard as he got pulled from the card on October 5.

Liam Williams is a decent opponent for him.

Sorry, I meant against a meaningful opponent. It's almost certain that Bentley and Sheeraz will fight early next year now.

And it will still be over 12 months out of the ring when December 2 lands. It was only 2 rounds as well. Williams said he was retired not too long ago. I hope he turns up in good shape and gives Sheeraz a tough fight.

If Sheeraz wins he will be fighting Janibek in London early 2024- or at least that is the rough plan from what I heard. Of course plans can change though.

Thanks for the response. I really doubt that happens to be honest. Why would they risk Sheeraz taking a loss against an unknown Kazakh? Surely the fight to make first is Sheeraz vs Bentley? Fair play if it happens and it would be great to see Sheeraz get an opportunity against probably a unified world champion once Janibek beats Gualtieri, but I really don't give him much of a chance in that fight.

Was there an option for Warren to try and get Bentley or Sheeraz a fight against Gualtieri before he signed to fight Janibek?

Same reason Matchroom risked Thompson taking a loss against an unknown Aussie. Money and glory.

Not sure about the specifics, just heard from a credible person that they want either Sheeraz or Bentley again to have a crack at Janibek first as they think he’s beatable. Also helps QP financials when they can get some cash in from TR/ESPN for a US broadcast which Janibek brings.

This is a good fight for Sheeraz, Liam is decent and known at 160 on the domestic scene..

Massive difference. Sheeraz is 24 and Thompson is 32. Thompson has no amateur experience and likely would never reach world level or get such an opportunity again.

Sheeraz is very young and talented. Don’t see the rush. Beat Bentley and then go for the world title. It seems to me that they are scared of Bentley winning so rather he loses his 0 to Janibek instead.
