Everytime the boxing public comes up with a boogeyman for Canelo to fight he fights them. He did it with Lara, he did it with GGG. Benevidez is the next boogeyman, and I have no doubt that he'll fight him before he calls it a day. Besides, prolonging the fight only benefits Benevidez at this point. But Trust me though, I want this fight as bad as the next fan.

Let's not forget that PBC offered Canelo a deal paying $35 mil guaranteed and the opponents they listed to fight him were the Charlo twins.

If it took PBC to lose money after the first fight to come to the conclusion that the Charlo twins wouldn't draw enough money as opponents to pay Canelo then they really are stupid.

Anyone with a braincell knew neither Charlo was going to generate huge PPV buys.

Has nothing to do with being a so-called "boggeyman". Those three were just the next logical fights to be made at the time.

You call them "the next logical fights", the rest of the boxing world labeled them boogeymen, and Canelo fought them. I don't see why he wouldn't fight Benevidez.

It doesn't matter what the average Joe would do. Canelo is supposed to be the king of boxing and should be held to a higher standard. Benavidez is coming off two big wins against Plant and Andrade there is no excuses for the king not to fight him this year.

Exactly and they waited for GGG to be 35 thinking that ok now we have a chance and he still got his ass beat and saved by the judges.

You're asking a person to fight for less money than what they're worth? Lmao...

And beating Benavidez doesn't enhance his legacy significantly.

Imagine 20 years from now. Ooh, Canelo fought and beat this 168 fighter who's biggest wins were Andrade.

    LOL

PBC gave Canelo a contract that did not include Benavidez.

    How is that Canelo's fault?

Calling them a ‘boogeyman’ means nothing. Fans say crazy sh*t all the time.

Why is canelo avoiding Benavidez then? What’s he waiting for in your opinion? The old ‘marinating’ line? Benavidez doesn’t deserve it yet? And if that was the case, what did the others do to deserve a fight w/ Canelo?

He’s carefully picking his opponents, while doing everything to avoid mentioning the only logical contender for him. And he has NOT been facing the top guys of recent. Were you watching boxing back when guys fought 3-4-5 tough fighters in a row??

It means nothing to you but those things were said through the media and in real life, not just online forums.

people were griping and complaining about Canelo waiting out GGG to get old, now that the shoe is on the other foot, everybody wants to act like savages and demand the fight, and mainly because they want to see him lose. It's all good I want to see the fight to, but if it happens this year or next year, Canelo is still getting Older while Benevidez will be getting better. I say make it this year tbh.

I've said this for months, Canelo is 6 years older and prolonging this fight only benefits Benevidez at this point, but to the post I quoted before you butted into it, was a questioned posed to me as "Based on what?" I think I answered that question.

I didn't look at those guys as boogeyman, because I didn't think they can beat Canelo. Andrade isn't exciting, he didn't market his brand. Mall is meh. Munguia is actually not an easy title defense, based on styles besides a fight with Benevidez, Munguia is actually his 2nd toughest fight at 168 imo.

It means does nothing Dren. These are thick skinned business menand professional athletes. And BTW…he DID try to wait out 3G until he was more of less forced to proceed w/o some catchweight garbage. Some of these guy make their own bed with decisions that might benefit ONLY them. And eventually yhey have to sleep in them. But we are the ones who put our butts in the seats and subscribe or buy a PPV.

You say ‘acting like savages’. No dren,. Asking to face his top contender rather than some WW, JrMW or MW just moving up. What exactly is wrong with that?

AND…..that is the life of being the division champ, don’t you get it? The occasional soft touch is alright. But how many more for Canelo? You either continue to face the top contenders, or drop the f’n belts and just do you money fights.

And to be honest, I don’t think Canelo willk ever face Benavidez unless his back is against the wall doe to fan backlash. Similar to 3G.

Canelo has 4 mandatory fights. Ryder was one, he's got 3 more..... Berlanga, Munguia, and Benevidez, if he fights all 3 fighters in any given order isn't he fighting who he's supposed to be fighting? That's part of the life of being the divisional champion though ... right? Fighting your mandatories.
