true, but it's good practice for Devon(quick outside boxing southpaw) and what fight wouldnt be a step back? Also it'll get Khan some name rec in the US, it's a good career move tbh
Yeah the fight will judah will get him some rec in the US but nothing more which I believe in this level of boxing is pointless! Why would khan need a fight to be prepared for another fight that prob wont ever happen? Bradley didnt need a fight to get ready for alexander and khan wont need one either. Besides ortiz is a southpaw and that fight next will probably make most sense, because he is the next top fighter in the division and he is southpaw. Unless he wants to have a rematch with maidana, which i see him winning comfortably
So you'd rather Khan be inactive, then? Why wouldn't the fight happen? Devon could definitely win, he will at LEAST be very competitive so that's the wrong attitude to have. GBP won't match Khan and Ortiz, they're trying best they can to build Vic back up from the ground, they're not gonna kill one of two prospects they've put serious stacks into grooming. Khan should be taking as many fights as he can right now, he's young, incomplete and he needs the experience. And it's not like Judah's dead or anything. Nothing wrong with taking an easier fight after the toughest one of your career.
Prescott - A relatively easy fight that would sell and also be important for his legacy. Now is the perfect time for this fight to be made. Bradley/Alexander winner - Makes perfect sense for a Summer fight. Unification fight. It would be mega. Juan Manuel Marquez (assuming he keeps his winning streak) - Would be a huge fight in the U.S and a great name to have on his resume. If JMM couldn't happen, maybe Ortiz or Katsidis. Then I'd move him up to 147 against tough but not elite fighter in preparation for a showdown with Mayweather in Winter 2012, Spring 2013.
No I dont want him being active I just want him taking a better fight! And recently we have had some rubbish fights being planned, and i dont want another just for the sake of khan getting experience because if he wanted some more experience he should have stayed in the UK for longer before signing for GBP. And yep of course GBP wont match them up, which is a big problem in boxing today because the best fighters dont always fight eachother because of the politics its really annoying but ortiz i think is 5th ranked which means he should be fighting khan, and maidana should be fighting peterson. Of course judah will be a decent fight if there is noone else but why is noone talking about guzman, yes hes unproven and hasnt faced anyone as good as khan, but thats what will be the beauty of that fight unlike with judah where we all know its just going to be more experience for khan and a win he will easily get. I would mind him fighting peterson but I would only accept the judah fight if zab fights another decent lightwelter and beats him otherwise that will be a silly match up!
:huh There is a clear difference in the kind of experience you get beating top 10 rankers and former world champs and the kind you get beating up/sparking out journeyman at the domestic level. Guzman is a joke honestly, he hasn't been relevant for years now and honestly Judah is ranked higher than him and would probably give him a better fight. Seriously what the **** has Joan Guzman done recently? Stopping mitchell? He hasn't made weight the last two times around either, doesn't deserve a title shot. Peterson is a good fight and that will be the one made. And Khan will dominate him just as easily as he would Judah. As for Ortiz? He's been underperforming and he can't seem to get out of his funk. Wouldn't be surprised if he never recovered from what happened with Maidana. Getting outboxed by Khan probably wouldn't help him out either.
LOL ok fair enough, it is a different experience fighting with better fighters and in the US. But with guzman, he has the highest ranking after the top 5, and is unbeaten in 31 fights, and against khan we could see how unproven he actually is. Judah is ranked number 15, under kendall holt and urango ffs, and rightly so! If judah faces and defeats either kotelnik, holt or even urango then maybe i would accept the khan fight but I dont see that happening! Fair enough lamont will face khan, he will get outboxed but it will be a more entertaining fight and one which will be good for khan in terms of experience, fighting someone with alot of skill and one of the top lightwelters in the division! It will be a shame for peterson though, who will be looked upon as a lightwelter who is just used as a tune up fight because he would have lost against every top fighter in the division!
IIRC Judah is fighting Mabuza for the vacant IBF. Would the fight be legit if that strap was on the table? I dislike Lamont being used as a stepping stone or tuneup either. Which is why i'd rather see Judah get bashed around a bit :deal
Are they fighting? I dont really think it makes much difference! :roflfair enough...sounds reasonable:deal
Swarmer, in the build up to a fight with Bradley surely a fight with Peterson would be more interesting, even if it's for comparative purposes seeing how the two fighters (brad, khan) fair against the sane opponent. Obviously I realise that styles mean direct comparisons are hard to make but it still makes for a valuable match up IMO.
