Fight Vetyeka as a last fight at 126. After, move up to 130 and fight the Martinez/Salido winner. And please, people need to stop with this "pro experience" sh!t. The man completely dismantled the current 126 lb. WBC champion, Gary Russell Jr. The fight looked like a complete mismatch. Lomachenko DOES NOT NEED PRO EXPERIENCE! He'd beat the **** out of Russell Jr. and Selby tomorrow if he could. With Gaymon controlling featherweight, Lomachenko's best option is to move up.
I would keep more active, like you said 3-4 times a year. To gain more pro experience and maybe build a fan base. They f*cked up this year only giving him two fights. Maybe it's those hand problems. It would suck if the hands become a big issue as his career goes on. Since he's only fighting one more time this year, I would make it a fight that's worth it. Rigondeaux or Selby (he said he's down to fight in the scene but he recently signed with Haymon so he's probably all talk). It looks like Walters is fighting Vetyeka, so let them fight and fight the winner early next year. Then have one more fight at 126 (with maybe an up and comer) or move up to 130. More fights at 130 imo.
He doesn't need pro experience!? It doesn't hurt to keep learning. Look at how much he's improved since his pro debut and he could still learn more. In his first two fights he took a lot of rounds, minutes off. He's been improving on that. There's always little things to make your game better and the more Loma stays in the pro ring the more he'll learn. Loma is not like most fighters, he actually learns from previous fights.
Loma has improved a good deal since his debut fight. His combinations are more fluid, and his head movement is better.
That's absolutely hilarious. Before he signed with Gaymon, he released a statement saying he wanted to defend his title before fighting Lomachneko. Once he signs with Gaymon, he starts talking sh!t. What a fraud! It's hilarious how Gaymon is starting to hide fighters under his skirt.
Yeah and there is still more to learn. I would love to see him improve his going backward game for lack of better words lol. A fighter can always improve. Top Rank is not doing him any favor keeping him this inactive this early in his career. Even if it's Gamalier Rodriguez type of opponents he has to get in there! Maybe it's the hand problems?
It was hilarious because another poster said it exactly how it would happened. After the Salido fight, people would say he needs to take time to improve and he wasn't refined coming out of the WSB. They all said he should get more experience before fighting GRJ. Somehow GRJ had more pro experience fighting bums... go figure. Once he dismantles GRJ, people said he improved, but really, he fought like he always fought. He made his name fighting guys like GRJ, but somehow, people would point to "experience." Not really, a lot of people haven't seen Lomachenko's rise in the amateurs. He is special.
Yeah I found that hilarious. He probably feels safe under Haymon and that's why he wants it now. I wouldn't trust a fight with Selby now. Loma dominated Russell imo and barely got a close MD. But who knows other fighters have gotten a fair shake in PBC. The problem is that Top Rank has been getting in the bad side of Haymon.
Idk I've actually seen improvement. He took off a lot of rounds against Salido. That's what probably cost him the fights (he couldn't pace himself), I still think he barely won and I'm Mexican. He took off like 2 or 3 rounds off against Russell, but in his last two fights he worked in almost all of the rounds. Salido is a dirty veteran and Russell was fighting "bums" so he didn't have much more experience than Loma. In two fights Loma learned more than Russell did in 24 fights. Russell still fought like an "amateur" and that's a style that benefited Loma. Even if you don't think he needs more experience, staying active is only going to benefit him and his fans.
Me,too! Lomachenko is an exceptional fighter, but even he needs a handful of pro fights to take on guys like Rigondeaux in the pro game.Give him some time and let him fight 3-5 times a year.
I would, like others, have him take part in 3-4 contests a year, which has done men like Kovalev and Golovkin some good. Seeing as Haymon is controlling so much of the division, I would have him take a shot at Rigondeaux. That is a classic fight which I think he can win.
