If you were miguel cotto you would?

I don't think Cotto is the kind of dude to call anyone a fraud (and least of all the #1 p4p on the planet)... But anyway, I think that of those two paths, he ought to clean out the division before taking Floyd, because honestly (and I love Cotto), I don't think he is up to Floyd's level quite yet.

Its this simple. Cotto needs to CALL OUT MAYWEATHER. Mayweather aint going to fight him in his next fight so...whatever after Cotto's next fight he needs to CUT the "Ill fight whoever my promoted puts in front of me" CRAP and straight out say that he is the #1 guy out there and Mayweather is the #1 guy and other champ at WW.

I love Cotto and respect the fact that he lets Top Rank choose who they feel the best opponent is for him, and thats fine when your up and coming and have to be in there with different styles of fighters to help your development later down the road BUT, there comes a time when you have passed that point and YOU have to call out who you want to and do whats best for you. There is no other fighter out there at WW that Cotto should be fighting besides Mayweather. Its that simple. CALL OUT MAYWEATHER. Do it politely, trash talk him, I don't really care but if I have to hear the response of "Whoever my promoter puts in front of me" out of Cotto's mouth when asked who he wants next I think I'm going to punch the TV!

Ricky talked **** and got his fight. It can only help Cotto to make mention of Floyds name.

 

Yeah. On the build up in the 24/7 they interview Ellerbe and go over the clip where Ricky says after his Castillo KO... You just saw more action in the last 4 rounds here than you have seen in Floyds whole career...( not exact words but I`m goin off of memory here).
Ellerbe says that at that point Floyd turned to him and said " Make the ****ing fight. "

 

There just letting us fans stir the **** for a while. The fight is big enough to autopromote itself and will hapen.

Maybe even bigger than the Hatton build up. We all saw what happened after hatton took out Castillo in 4.

If I were Miguel Cotto, I would demand Arum and Top Rank to get me a fight with Mayweather. It would offer the most money and it would mean most to his legacy. Adding to that, it's a winnable fight.

 

I agree that Floyd is the favorite and give him the edge in winning no doubt about that but you are 100% right that Cotto will bring the fight to Floyd and it would be HIS toughest fight out there for him (also Paul Williams but theres NO WAY that is gonna happen so we aren't even gonna discuss that).

I don't want to see Cotto loose but I want to see him in there with the biggest challenge out there- and thats Mayweather.

It can definitely grow to have even a huger demand (and that prob means gross a lot more for both guys as well as the promoters and everyone else involved) but I dont give a ****! Anyone who is on a boxing message board is more then a casual fan and doesn't wanna wait for this fight! We want it now!

Cotto can clean out the division make even a huger name for himself while Floyd sits on the sidelines ...getting older (not by much but still activity is better then counting your $$ like Floyd does) and maybe collect some rust.

We gotta wait and see who Cotto's next opponet is. Im thinking its going to be Clottey or someone else (where its not a superfight) and then Margarito in June. The earliest I can see a fight with Mayweather happening is late 2008 but its more likely to happen sometime in 2009. Sucks that it has to be so long away but by then it would be even bigger then it would right now.

 

If I was in Cottos position id go for the biggest money available, if not DLH or Floyd, then ill defend against the next guy who get me the most amount of cash, **** id probly fight Ricky.

If I'm Cotto I push hard for the big money fight with Mayweather. Every fight he takes with someone else beside Mayweather only jeapordizes the pay day.
I would like to see him get that shot, but I would hate to see Arum get money

I agree, Cotto needs to call out Mayweather, he deserves a fight with Mayweather. Or maybe Cotto feels he's still not ready, who knows. I believe the fight will happen late next year. Perhaps Nov or Dec :yep Cotto just needs to keep winning.
