Seen discussions on here before where people have said which fight got them stuck into boxing. Which exact moment you realised this was the sport for you. Mostly, these are fights from quite long ago - unforgettable classics that still resonate with many new and old fans alike today. So I wondered, let's say you only got involved with boxing in the last 5-10 years max. Which fights in that time do you think would have captured your passion for the sport quite the same way a Hagler-Heanrs might have?
While I watched some of Ali's fights here and there in the mid to late 70s, the fight that really got me hooked on boxing was Leonard-Hearns I
Pretty sure Mayweather/Ortiz got me stuck into boxing. Sucky fight really, but the post fight interview was absolutely hilarious. It made the sport seem interesting to me.
No idea why. But for some reason I always remember the Lewis vs tyson clash in 2002. I was around 13-14 when I watched that fight. Wasn't the greatest fight but it stuck with me
Mayweather/Hatton. My first fight ever, I was there and the buildup was insane. Best atmosphere I've ever been a part of. I followed the sport before that, but that fight got me hooked on boxing.
And ever since then you have been living inside Mayweathers ass feeding off his ped induced bowel dung and with no way of viewing the real world. Poor lil flo rida!
Mayweather/Hatton is miles above Mayweather/DeLaHoya and May/Pac IMO the fighters, the atmosphere, the fans, the ending. had it all
Morales vs Barrera 1 was one of the first great fights I watched that hooked me, Lennox Lewis before smashing grant was one of the first.
Growing up with the great fights on Wide World of Sports in the 70's. Glad that Fox is bringing good fights back to regular TV.
well for buzz it was leonard haggler. for action it was the Tyson fights later in that same year I believe. this little kid killing off the champions and top contenders, bizarre. after that a hiatus from boxing until we got the british smw minor triumvirate in the 90s.
for me it was AA vs aaron pryer , I had been a fan of the heavyweights, SRL, Hearns and Haglar, but that fight opened me up to all the weights and got me way more into the sport in general.
Man it was so many the first big mega fight I saw live on TV was Tyson/Holyfield 1 so that may have started it Fights over the years that made my passion grow (and these are also fights i seen live) Mosley/Forrest Mayweather/Corrales Vargas/Trinidad De La Hoya/Trinidad etc
